Tottenham are in contact with Wolves star winger Pedro Neto over a summer move
According to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano as quoted by Give Me Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are in contact with Wolves winger Pedro Neto over a move this summer transfer window and are in constant dialogue with his agents.
Neto, 24 is one of the most highly-rated wingers in the Premier League. He has been at Wolves for quite some time now and his performances have consistently been improving, with his last-season showings really catching the eye.
Having been called up to Roberto Martinez’s Portuguese squad for the Euros 2024, Neto is certainly one for the present and the future. He might not have gotten much game time at the tournament but the experience can only improve him.
Before his injury last season that made him miss out on a significant chunk of action, Neto was in scintillating form for Gary O’Neil’s side. The 24-year-old scored three goals and provided 11 assists across all competitions in 24 games.
The numbers would have been so much better had Pedro Neto played the entire campaign for Wolves. Whilst the regularity with which he finds the back of the net can improve, it might be subsequent to him playing in a team that creates more high-quality chances.
Speaking about Spurs’ interest in the player, here is what Romano had to say about what the North London club is doing
“They are in regular contact with the agent of Pedro Neto. For Pedro Neto, it really depends on the fee. He had many injuries, so Tottenham would be happy to try again for Pedro Neto, but only in normal conditions, not crazy conditions. This is why it also depends on Wolves.”
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher rates the player very highly, even labelling him ‘a superstar’. Here is what he had to say – “We shouldn’t forget, also, on the bench Pedro Neto. He’s just come back from a really bad injury. He was a superstar player a couple of years ago. I think if they can get him back, he may be able to provide a bit of magic and around the box to create things or get a goal himself over the next few weeks.”
If Tottenham manage to sign Pedro Neto, they’ll be killing two birds with one stone in the sense that they will be getting reinforcements for both the right and left wing. The 24-year-old brings a lot to the table.
