Ben Jacobs says Tottenham are leading the race for Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze
Ben Jacobs has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze. He has to be called something, that is why winger. He’s too versatile a player to be locked to one position but that’s that. According to Jacobs, the interest in Eze has skyrocketed, with multiple top clubs, including Manchester City and Arsenal, showing keen interest. However, it appears Tottenham are currently ahead in their pursuit.
Speaking on the YouTube Channel “Last Word on Spurs”, here is what Jacobs noted:
“When one club enquires, every club enquires. As soon as the Euros finish we might see some movement on this one.”
“You’re right that Manchester City like this player, but Tottenham are there and I think they’re ahead if you like in terms of how concrete they are that he’s someone they wish to move on than Arsenal who have been linked with Eberechi Eze as well.”
Eze, currently on duty with England at the Euros, has largely been a benchwarmer due to the abundance of attacking options available to Gareth Southgate. Despite this, his club form before the Euros has been impressive.
Make it Eze for us Ebe!
The 24-year-old winger scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for Crystal Palace, catching the attention of several top clubs in the Premier League.
Tottenham’s interest in Eze aligns with their ambition to bolster their attacking options and bring in fresh talent. Eze’s versatility, creativity, and goal-scoring ability make him an attractive prospect for a Spurs side looking to strengthen their squad after a mixed season. Eze was labelled a ‘Champions League player’ by Danny Murphy.
The player’s dribbling skills and flair on the ball would add a new dimension to Tottenham’s attacking play, potentially providing the spark they need to climb the Premier League table under Big Ange. Manchester City’s interest in Eze is also noteworthy, given their track record of developing and integrating young talent into their first team.
However, City’s squad depth might make it challenging for Eze to secure regular playing time, which could be a factor in his decision-making process. On the other hand, Tottenham can offer him a more prominent role, which might be appealing as he looks to take the next step in his career.
