Romano offers update on the future of 'unplayable' Tottenham target labelled 'the most gifted youngster seen'

Tottenham target Desire Doue set to decide his future in the coming days, says Romano

According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur target Desire Doue is set to decide his future in the coming days amidst interest from Bayern Munich and PSG.

Doue’s name has been doing the rounds for quite some time now. The young Rennes forward is highly regarded as one of the biggest talents in Ligue 1 at the moment and European giants want to snap him up before it gets too late.

Bayern have already made a bid to Rennes that has been rejected by the French club. PSG are closely keeping tabs on the player whilst Premier League clubs have also been credited with interest in the player.

It’s not just European clubs that are in awe of the player. His teammates have been waxing lyrical about him too, with Baptiste Santamaria recently saying this about Desire Doue

“He’s one of a kind: he likes to hit the ball but he’s solid on his feet. Desire’s technical, percussive and physical qualities are quite incredible. When he becomes more consistent, he’ll be unplayable. For his age, he’s the most gifted youngster I’ve seen in my career.”

That’s some praise coming for a player who is just 19 years old. Predominantly a left-winger, Doue can also play on the right side of attack and can also play as an attacking midfielder. Transfermarkt values the player at around €30m.

With a contract that expires in 2026 (Transfermarkt), Rennes don’t have much time to dilly-dally about the future of the teenager. If they refuse to sell the teenager this summer, his valuation will only keep dropping.

The French U-23 star played 43 times across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side last season, scoring four goals and providing six assists. The numbers are bound to improve when playing in a team that creates more chances.

Ange Postecoglou is not afraid to throw a teenager into the starting XI and has placed immense trust in youth during his managerial career so far. This has reflected in Tottenham’s dealings in the transfer market.
