Tottenham will have to spend a mammoth fee if they intend to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer
The need for a new forward has been growing at Tottenham Hotspur, and we saw how the club aggressively worked during the winter window to add to the squad.
The North Londoners signed Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich with an option to buy at the end of the season. However, due to the amount of injury problems that has ravaged the season, Ange Postecoglou, along with the club chief,s are gathering targets to go into the summer transfer window.
Spurs must seek a replacement for Richarlison, whose future at N17 remains unambiguous because of persistent injury issues. At 32, Son Heung-min is not a spring chicken while Timo Werner’s loan deal from RB Leipzig will not be turned permanent. In addition, club-record signing Dominic Solanke has spent more than a month on the sidelines with a knee problem.

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has been on the radar of Tottenham for some time now. He has been linked with a highly anticipated move to the Premier League, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United interested in acquiring his services.
In a fresh development, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed on his official X account that Benjamin Sesko has a formal release clause in his RB Leipzig contract.
The clause officially becomes valid in the summer and the Slovenian’s price has already risen from that previous €65m figure to €70m. It can increase even further and reach up to €80m amid interest from Tottenham.

Regarded as one of the best young strikers in Europe, Sesko has scored 17 goals and provided five assists for RB Leipzig across all competitions so far this campaign, thus attracting heavyweight interest. Florian Plettenberg adds the value of the clause will depend on multiple factors, including games played, goals scored and assists made, and will increase as the season goes on.
Sesko’s price tag could be out of Tottenham’s price range, with Daniel Levy and Johan Lange expected to prioritise budgetary deals alongside player sales to address several areas of the pitch. If they are to replace Richarlison, the club would look out for a cost-effective solution rather than throwing big money.

Not to forget, the Lilywhites broke their club transfer record by signing Solanke from Bournemouth last summer. Thus, it makes no sense to pay a premium for Sesko’s potential as Tottenham require an experienced striker who will not create a fuss to operate as a backup for Solanke.
