Tottenham Hotspur are bracing for a significant summer overhaul following what has been a deeply underwhelming campaign. With the club entrenched in the bottom half of the Premier League table, reinforcements are urgently needed to restore quality and depth across the squad.

The North London outfit has fallen well short of expectations this season, particularly in defence—an area that has shown no signs of improvement under Ange Postecoglou. Spurs have managed just six clean sheets in the league, while repeated individual errors at the back have consistently undermined their progress. Defensive frailty has become a defining feature of their struggles, making it a top priority heading into the transfer window.

This summer presents the perfect opportunity for the Lilywhites to offload underperforming players and initiate a much-needed reset. A lack of squad depth has severely hampered their ability to compete for a top-four finish, with injuries to key players further compounding the issue. The absences of Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, and Micky van de Ven at various points this season have significantly disrupted consistency, costing Spurs both in terms of results and performances on the pitch.

It’s increasingly evident where the problems lie for Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham’s defence has been plagued by injuries, and the lack of quality depth has taken a serious toll on performances. With little impact coming from the bench, the team has struggled to adapt in key moments. Chairman Daniel Levy is already working behind the scenes, identifying defensive reinforcements who can not only raise the level at the back but also provide much-needed cover should another injury crisis strike.

The Lilywhites had identified Southampton star Kyle Walker-Peters as the ideal man to compete for the right-back position. The English full-back left N17 in 2020 to join the Saints and played an instrumental part in getting them back into the Premier League. But after a successful stint at the South Coast club, the 28-year-old wants to start fresh and is refusing to sign a new contract extension at the club.

Walker-Peters’ contract runs out in the summer, and Spurs were in the prime position to sign him. However, as per talkSPORT, the North London club have been hit with a massive blow as West Ham United are now leading the race to get his signature. Recent reports suggest that the Hammers want to get the deal done quickly and are willing to offer him a place in the starting eleven.
