Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface might be headed to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur need to bolster their attack in the summer. The Lilywhites do not have a player who has consistently found the back of the net this season. The lack of form shown by key players has affected the results and the performances on the pitch. This has put Ange Postecoglou’s job under threat as the club is languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Last summer’s statement signing Dominic Solanke has endured a ‘stop-start’ first season at N17. The England international struggled with injuries, and he has failed to make a big impact in the league for the North London club. However, the 27-year-old has found his goalscoring touch in recent games, after managing to score against Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt in the last few days.

Tottenham forwards have struggled to make an impact this season.

But other forwards have still struggled to get going for Ange’s side. January signing Mathys Tel has not had the best start to life at Tottenham either. The Frenchman has been left out of the team on some occasions and has struggled to adapt to the style of play under Ange Postecoglou. Richarlison is another player who has struggled to stay fit this season. The Brazil international has fallen down the pecking order under Big Ange as well.

Tottenham are the frontrunners to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface

Tottenham face a major squad overhaul in the summer. The Lilywhites might face the prospect of losing many players, and Daniel Levy must make sure that the replacements are ready if that happens. Richarlison is likely to be heading for the exit doors in the summer after a failed stint at N17. Along with him, Mathys Tel is also uncertain about his future at the club. A decision regarding the Frenchman will be taken once the season ends.

Now, GIVEMESPORT reports that Spurs are leading the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface in the summer. The German club are willing to let Boniface leave for a fee of around £43 million. He was close to joining Saudi club Al Nassr in January, but a deal fell through at the last minute, and Jhon Duran was signed instead. However, the reigning Bundesliga champions have placed the Nigeria international on the transfer market yet again.

But Spurs are not the only club that is willing to sign the 24-year-old. West Ham United are also interested in his services and plans on bringing the prolific striker to the London Stadium. The expected departure of Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen has increased the chances of Boniface leaving the club as well. Daniel Levy will need to act quickly if he wants to sign the Nigerian international in the summer.

Boniface is not enjoying a successful campaign this season. The Leverkusen striker has managed to score just 11 goals and provide a single assist in 27 games. However, it is important to note that the Nigerian international suffered a long-term injury mid-season, which ruled him out of the side for almost three months.

But the Leverkusen star will be a perfect fit for Tottenham. The Lilywhites need a competent striker up top to compete with Solanke. Boniface will provide a different dynamic to the attack, and that will suit Ange Postecoglou’s system perfectly. The 24-year-old can retain the ball well, link up play with his teammates, and he is a proper ‘target man’ in the box. His aerial threat is also an important part of his game, and he tends to make the most of the space left behind by the defenders.
