Tottenham star confirms ‘best condition’ as Manchester United await in the Europa League final

Destiny Udogie thanks the Tottenham medical team to help him get back to peak fitness levels ahead of Europa League final
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has endured an extremely frustrating second season in North London.
He has lost several key Spurs players to injury throughout the campaign and has perhaps failed to show the necessary tactical acumen and game-management skills to win enough points. The squad was once without the entire backline, bar Pedro Porro, and that had forced the Australian tactician to seek makeshift solutions.
Destiny Udogie has had a stop-start second campaign in a Tottenham shirt. After a strong debut campaign, the expectations were high from him to build on that and help achieve more stability to the Lilywhites’ defence. However, that has not been the case as he has also been a victim of injury issues.

The left-back has missed 13 games due to a hamstring injury, limiting his progress and development under Ange Postecoglou. As a result, Destiny Udogie has been reduced to only 34 appearances across all competitions, with 24 coming in the Premier League. However, the Italian has now recovered fully and is raring to play his part in helping Tottenham win the Europa League final against Manchester United.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the 22-year-old opened up on his initial struggles with injury problems. Now, he is fully fit and keen to finish the 2024/25 season on a high note.
“It’s difficult, because of all the injuries I’ve had and the constant attempt to get back to top form. But I’m trying to finish the season in the best way possible, to help the team,” Udogie said.
“I’m fine now. At the start of the season I was coming from an operation and without a good pre-season it was difficult. But now thanks to the team and the staff I’m finding the best condition.”

Udogie cemented his spot at left-back at Spurs last season, quickly becoming one of the first names on Ange’s teamsheet. With his pace, industry, energy and attacking threat, the Italy international made a massive difference at both ends of the pitch. When he is on the pitch, the North London club have looked defensively resolute and a threat going forward.

Having overcome his struggles with a hamstring problem, Udogie is now fully and fit and raring to go. The Verona-born talent will be keen to play a significant role for his team against Man United in the Europa League final on Wednesday evening and win his career’s first-ever trophy. A fully fit and running Udogie will be an asset for Ange’s side in Bilbao.
