Fulham boss becomes leading candidate to take charge at Tottenham

Marco Silva is expected to swap Fulham for Tottenham in the summer
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has managed to do the unthinkable and end the club’s long-standing trophy drought this season. Not one fan would have thought at the start of the season that the Australian would lead the club to European success in this campaign. But the ex-Celtic boss has walked the talk and delivered on his promise of winning a major trophy in his second season at a club.
The Lilywhites will now play Champions League football next season as well. It is important to note that Big Ange has completed all the objectives set out for him at the start of the season. The 59-year-old ensured Champions League qualification, and he also ended the club’s 17-year wait for silverware. The only thing that will put a damp on this astonishing achievement is the dismal Premier League campaign that Ange’s men have endured.

They sit 17th in the Premier League table and have already registered 21 losses. One could say that this has been the worst domestic campaign that the North London club has endured in a very long time. And it might just be the reason why Ange Postecoglou might lose his job at N17 in the summer.
Fulham manager Marco Silva becomes favourite to replace Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou
There is a hush of silence from the Tottenham board regarding Ange Postecoglou’s future at N17. The Australian has exceeded expectations this season in Europe and ended the club’s trophy drought along the way. But, the 59-year-old is still expected to get sacked in the summer after enduring a disastrous Premier League campaign that has seen Spurs sitting 17th in the league table.

Now GIVEMESPORT has reported that Fulham manager Marco Silva is the leading candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou at N17 in the summer if Daniel Levy decides to make the change. GMS correspondent Ben Jacobs said,
“We know that Tottenham are very well-prepared if they do make a change. Marco Silva is the name on their shortlist. Al-Hilal have pushed for Silva and are still in contact as well, but it looks like SIlva wants to stay in Europe and I think he would be one of the leading candidates if Tottenham choose to make a change.”
It was reported earlier that Saudi club Al-Hilal were also interested in bringing in Marco Silva in the summer for next season. But the Portuguese has no intentions of leaving Europe and wants to stay in the Premier League to build his reputation. The ex-Everton boss has done a wonderful job at Craven Cottage and he has restored stability at the South-West London club.

Now, Daniel Levy must act quick if he wants to hire Silva in the summer. Spurs have already missed out on Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola in recent weeks, so they cannot afford to miss out on yet another managerial target. But, before proceeding with negotiations for Marco Silva, Levy will need to relieve Ange Postecoglou from his duties at N17.
