‘Ridiculous’ Tottenham slammed for ‘unbelievable’ Daniel Levy decision

Tottenham have taken the bold decision to sack Ange Postecoglou following UEL success
Tottenham have sacked Ange Postecoglou following a disastrous Premier League campaign. The Lilywhites thought it would be best that the club kickstarted a new era at N17 with a different manager at the helm for next season. While some may think that it is the right decision to relieve the Australian from his duties, most of the fans cannot understand why the club took such a bold step.
It is always ‘one step forward, two steps back’ for Spurs under Daniel Levy. The sacking of Big Ange has confirmed that finishing in the top half of the Premier League table is more important than winning a major trophy for the club chairman. The Lilywhites managed to exceed all expectations and win the Europa League last month, and fans believed that the historic achievement would be a turning point in the club’s history.

However, Tottenham are back to square one just two weeks after ending a 17-year wait for silverware. It was the perfect opportunity for Daniel Levy to build a connection with the fans following the Europa League success, but the club chairman thought it was best to dampen the mood around N17 and make the bold choice of sacking Ange Postecoglou.
Ramon Vega cannot understand why Tottenham sacked Ange Postecoglou
Ange Postecoglou was adamant to continue at N17 following a successful end to the campaign. The Australian even announced that ‘season three’ would be better than the previous two seasons as the Lilywhites looked to build on the Europa League success in the summer. However, the ex-Celtic boss was relieved from his duties even before he could try and continue his project in North London.
Now, ex-Celtic star Ramon Vega has expressed his disappointment following Big Ange’s departure. Speaking to Sky Sports News (via Fox Sports), Vega said,
“We are now in a place where a trophy is not valid at all whatsoever. The principles and the disciplines are not valued in the same way. What kind of inspiration or example can you bring to the future and the young talented players? Do you not want to win trophies anymore? In football, results count. And they won a trophy. It’s unbelievable.”

The ex-Celtic player added,
“The question is here: where do Tottenham want to go with their manager? Why are they now sacking someone where they can bring stability into the whole club? The fans – 250,000 people went to the parade, when is the next time they will do that? They aren’t talking about 17th in the league; they won a trophy! We are degrading winning a trophy here.”
Ramon Vega suggested that trophies are not considered important in football now and the position in the league table is valued more. The ex-Celtic star questioned the sacking of Ange Postecoglou and insisted that Daniel Levy has disrupted the stability at the club. Vega also added that the fans are right to call out Levy as winning silverware is more important than finishing in the top half of the Premier League.

One can only feel sorry for the next manager that takes over the reigns at N17 following Ange Postecoglou’s departure. It was reported earlier that Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the leading candidate to replace Big Ange at the helm for next season. Well, the Danish tactician will have a huge job of getting the fans and the players back on board before next season starts.
