“Need to move on”- Tottenham star urges teammates to move on from Ange Postecoglou setback

Tottenham need to focus on next season and close the gap on their rivals
One step forward, two steps back… that has been the story of Tottenham under Daniel Levy. The Lilywhites had the chance of starting a new era at N17 with Ange Postecoglou at the helm after the Europa League success last month. But the North London club chose to sack the Australian tactician instead and start again from square one.
Big Ange had managed to get the fans back on board after ending a 17-year wait for a major trophy last month. The ex-Celtic boss was serenaded by the Spurs fans during the trophy parade that followed the Europa League win. The 59-year-old’s name was sung by the fans during the celebrations and there was a growing belief that Ange Postecoglou had managed to save himself from the sack.

The Australian also announced during his victory speech that ‘season three’ would be better than the previous two seasons as his team looked to build on the Europa League success. However, Daniel Levy thought otherwise and questionably sacked Big Ange just two weeks after the historic achievement. It is fair to say that Ange Postecoglou delivered on his promise of winning a trophy in his second season at a club.
Ben Davies wants Tottenham players to focus on what lies ahead amid Ange Postecoglou sack news
The euphoria around N17 following the Europa League win has completely disappeared after Ange Postecoglou was relieved from his duties last week. It was reported earlier that the Tottenham players were furious with the decision and were planning to revolt against the club’s hierarchy following the Australian tactician’s departure. This just proves that the dressing room backed Big Ange to turn the fortunes around at the club.
However, Spurs defender Ben Davies has now urged his teammates to ‘move on’ from the setback and look at what lies ahead. The Welshman told Phil Cadden (via X),
“From a players’ standpoint, you don’t tend to have too much input into those decisions. For us, we read about the news as you did. As players, we have to move on and do the job that is in front of us and it’s no different this time.”
Ben Davies pointed out that the Tottenham players do not have any input in the decision-making process regarding the manager’s fate at the club. The Spurs defender added that his teammates must now look to move on from the sack news and focus on the job at hand for next season. Davies also urged the dressing room to be ready for the new manager that comes in as the Lilywhites look to build on the Europa League success.

Spurs are on the verge of appointing Brentford manager Thomas Frank as their new manager for next season. The first order of business for the Danish tactician will be to get the house back in order and get the players back on board quickly. Frank needs to adapt quickly as the Lilywhites will look to close the gap on their rivals next season.
