Thomas Frank huge fan of breakout Tottenham star; huge season potentially on the cards

Archie Gray may get regular opportunities in midfield under new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank next season
There is no doubt that there is a need for a fresh approach at the Tottenham Hotspur after Thomas Frank was appointed as the new head coach last week.
Ange Postecoglou failed to get the best out of the squad, and while he did end the club’s 17-year-long trophy drought, underwhelming displays and results in the Premier League led to his sacking. With Thomas Frank succeeding Ange, a different style of play and system will be witnessed from Spurs next season. The Dane has earned a reputation of developing players at Brentford, and nothing less will be expected of him in North London.
The Lilywhites have some extremely talented players who require proper direction and guidance to go on and reach their potential. One of those is Archie Gray, who arrived at the club from Leeds United last summer.

One of the hottest young prospects in English football, Spurs pulled off a coup by signing the teenager. A midfielder by trade, Archie Gray was forced to deputise in different positions across the backline due to an injury crisis this past season. While many expected Ange to use him sporadically, the England youth international ended up making 46 appearances in his debut season at White Hart Lane.
Now with Frank in charge, the Durham-born talent could become an even more integral member of the Tottenham first-team as he looks to aid his development. In Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur, Spurs have two players entering the final year of their contracts.
Now, according to a report from The Athletic, the uncertain futures of both Bissouma and Bentancur could allow Gray more playing time next term. With Frank being a “huge fan” of the English prodigy, he could be set for a more prominent role in the middle of the park.

The Danish tactician attempted to sign Gray at Brentford last year. However, he could not get his target as Brentford and Leeds United failed to agree on a fee and the deal collapsed at the 11th hour, allowing Tottenham to swoop in.

Gray is a sublime talent with vast potential, but at just 19, it’d be risky for Frank to fully rely on him to start games as a No.6 in both the Premier League and Champions League. A seasoned defensive midfielder, thus, is the need of the hour this summer, which is perhaps why the new Spurs boss wants to lure Brentford captain Christian Norgaard to the Hotspur Way.
