“Not for sale”- Tottenham suffer setback as £70m English star is set to stay put amid transfer links

Jarrad Branthwaite might stay at Everton for next season despite Tottenham transfer links
The Europa League success should not paper over the cracks at Tottenham after the club endured a disastrous domestic campaign. The Lilywhites need to bring in reinforcements in the summer if they want to close the gap on their rivals next season and compete in the top half of the league table.
Now that the managerial situation is sorted out at N17, the North London club must do everything they can to back Thomas Frank in the transfer window. Spurs are already playing catch-up with other clubs in the summer, and the managerial situation forced the Lilywhites to miss out on few of the intended targets earlier in the window.

This cannot continue and Daniel Levy must pull out all the stops to land the desired players before pre-season starts. There is a clear need to bring in new defenders in the summer, after the club endured an injury crisis in the backline midway through the season. The lack of squad depth at the back was clear for all to see, and that was one of the main reasons why Tottenham finished just a place above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite set to snub Tottenham amid transfer links
Tottenham are facing a massive overhaul in the summer after the club endured its worst domestic campaign in recent years. With Cristian Romero potentially heading for the exit doors and Radu Dragusin still recovering from a long-term ACL injury, Daniel Levy has decided that the Lilywhites need to bring in a quality defender to fill in the void next season.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton in the summer. However, the Toffees have time and again insisted that they would consider offers that are north of the £70m mark. With the defender entering his prime years, the Merseyside club are in no rush to sell him as they believe he is the right man to lead Everton forward.
This is also reiterated by Alex Crook as he talks about the possibility of Tottenham signing a new defender. Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook said,
“Jarrad Branthwaite has been mentioned as someone who could come in and bolster Tottenham’s defence. The messages I’m getting out of Everton are a very firm: ‘He’s not for sale this summer.’ David Moyes wants to build their future around keeping Branthwaite. So, it would take a massive offer from Tottenham to price him away.”
Daniel Levy must look to invest the money wisely as Spurs look for a defensive revamp in the summer. The asking price of £70m is a lot for a player that has not yet established himself in the Premier League. That being said, it is also important to note that Jarrad Branthwaite has a lot of potential to turn into a world-class player, and the amount will be rationalised if he continues to grow at N17.

It remains to be seen what Tottenham decide to do regarding the transfer sage involving the Everton defender. The Lilywhites have also shortlisted a few other centre-backs if they miss out on signing the Englishman. It was reported earlier that Daniel Levy is a huge fan of Lazio star Mario Gila and wants to bring him to N17 as Cristian Romero’s replacement.
