Spurs make enquiry for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, reveals David Ornstein

Tottenham have been put off by Bournemouth’s high valuation of Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to boost their squad after lifting the Europa League trophy.

After the appointment of Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s successor, the club want to add fresh faces to ensure they are competitive on all fronts next season. There are some serious underlying issues at the club that requires addressing over this ongoing transfer window.

Several high-profile players underperformed at White Hart Lane this past campaign. Son Heung-min showed signs of ageing and looked a shadow of his former self, while Richarlison’s problems with fitness continued. Club-record acquisition Dominic Solanke blew hot and cold throughout his debut year in North London, bagging just nine league goals after arriving amid a lot of fanfare from Bournemouth.

Speaking in his first official interview with Tottenham, Thomas Frank vowed to help Solanke score a lot many goals in the 2025/26 season. And the addition of an attacker he’s already familiar with could help the England international blossom under Frank.

Spurs are interested in signing Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. The North London club have identified the 25-year-old as a possible option to improve the forward line following his exploits with Bournemouth this past season. The Ghanaian international was one of the Cherries’ crucial players under Andoni Iraola, scoring 13 goals in 42 matches across all competitions.

Now, according to a report from The Athletic, Tottenham have made an initial enquiry for Antoine Semenyo but have decided not to press forward with talks at this stage. Bournemouth want £65 million to let their star attacker leave, but that valuation has put off Spurs and other interested clubs such as Manchester United.

The Cherries are under no pressure to let go Semenyo until their valuation is met, having already sold Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid. They have also agreed a £40m deal with Liverpool for Milos Kerkez. Thus, it depends on how much Tottenham want Semenyo, who is believed to be open to a move to North London.

Tottenham will have to shatter their transfer record to sign Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanaian international is the kind of winger Frank would love to work with, having developed versatile forwards such as Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa at his former club Brentford. The 25-year-old can play across the front line, and he would add a lot of pace, intensity, pressing, rotation, flair and dynamism to Frank’s side.

Not to forget, Semenyo worked with Solanke at Bournemouth in an attacking system under Andoni Iraola. So, not only would he be reuniting with Solanke at N17, the African talent would also be getting a chance to rub shoulders against the best players in the Champions League next term. This shows a player like Semenyo could add a lot of value to the Tottenham squad.

As things stand, Daniel Levy and Co. will likely bide their time and hope Bournemouth lowers their demands. But if they don’t, it will be interesting to see Tottenham’s next course of action.
