“No chance”- Tottenham Hotspur expected to miss out on £85m Premier League star

West Ham star Mohammed Kudus is attracting suitors in the summer amid Tottenham transfer links

Pre-season is just around the corner and Tottenham are still trying to make their first proper signing of the summer. The Lilywhites confirmed the signing of Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich earlier this month, but the North London club is still looking to bring new players in that could bolster the quality of the squad.

Daniel Levy needs to be proactive in the transfer market and back Thomas Frank if the club wants to close the gap on its rivals next season. The Spurs chairman cannot afford to be complacent heading into pre-season as the club needs to address a few problems on the pitch. There is a clear need to revamp the attacking line as the Lilywhites look to kickstart a new era at N17.

However, the North London club also needs to use the money wisely as they have endured huge financial losses in the last year. The disastrous Premier league campaign ensured that Tottenham must adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy in the summer. So, the fans will expect a lot of outgoings in the coming weeks before any new players enter the building.

Tottenham are keen to sign West Ham star Mohammed Kudus

There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bolster their flanks in the summer as part of a major squad overhaul. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites are interested in signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United. The Ghana international has a £85m release clause in his contract that is activated in the summer. But the aforementioned report suggests that Spurs have put in a lowball offer of £50m to test the waters.

Now, John Wenham believes that the 24-year-old will not join the North London club in the summer. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,

“There is no chance of that deal happening. If West Ham are going to sell Kudus, it isn’t going to be to Tottenham. No player has moved between the two clubs since 2011, and that isn’t going to change now.”

The Lilywhite Rose owner added,

“It was a similar thing when we were linked with Conor Gallagher at Chelsea. I just don’t see Tottenham agreeing a deal with West Ham for Kudus. Also, he would potentially be away for AFCON, during which time Tottenham will have a lot of games to play.”

John Wenham believes Tottenham have ‘no chance’ of signing Mohammed Kudus in the summer. The Lilywhite Rose owner adds that the transfer links are rumours and Spurs will not strike a deal for the 24-year-old. Wenham also adds that the Ghana international might miss out on crucial mid-season games for the Lilywhites due to AFCON next season.

It remains to be seen how Spurs approach the deal to sign the West Ham winger. There are other alternatives that the North London club could look at if they do not strike a deal for Kudus. It was reported earlier that Tottenham are also interested in signing Southampton star Tyle Dibling in the summer. The talented winger will not cost as much as Mohammed Kudus, and he also has a high ceiling with massive potential.
