“Tottenham in the driving seat”- Tottenham favourites to land 28 G/A Brentford star despite Man United advances

Tottenham are not giving up in their chase to hijack a deal for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo
It has been a slow start to the transfer window for Tottenham as they look to bolster their squad for next season. The Lilywhites have a massive task on their hands to address the problems on the pitch. And the North London club must get the decisions right if they want to close the gap on its rivals next season.
Not only that, but Daniel Levy needs to back Thomas Frank in the summer if he wants to build on the Europa League success. The Spurs chairman recently put out a bold statement stating that the club was aiming to win the Premier League and the Champions league in the coming years. So, Levy must put his money where the mouth is and deliver on his promise quickly.

The attacking line at N17 clearly lacks an ‘X factor’ and it is necessary for the club to address that. With Heung-Min Son’s form rapidly declining and Brennan Johnson not having a competitor on the right-flank, it is important for the Lilywhites to bring in a wide player to bolster the depth and the quality of the squad.
Tottenham still not giving up their chase for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo
It was reported earlier that Tottenham were aiming to hijack Manchester United’s deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo. The Lilywhites appointed Thomas Frank as their new manager earlier this month, and believed that the Cameroon international might follow suit at N17. The aforementioned report also stated that Spurs launched a £70m bid to lure the 25-year-old to North London as well.
Now, ex-Spurs player Paul Robinson still believes that Tottenham have a chance of landing Mbeumo as Man United have not agreed a deal for his services. Speaking to Tottenham News, Robinson said,
“Champions League football is a huge thing in Tottenham’s favour. And in Thomas Frank’s favour, he’s got a great relationship with all the players that he’s worked with, including Mbuemo. The link to Manchester United has been there for a while, but actually, with Thomas Frank now at Tottenham and the opportunity to play Champions League football, he could be persuaded.”
The ex-Spurs player added,
“I think Tottenham are ahead in the race with Thomas Frank there and the offer of Champions League football. I think that his wages could be a stumbling block, but if he’s willing to find a middle ground on that, then that puts Tottenham in the driving seat for me.”
Paul Robinson has suggested that Tottenham offering Champions League football, as well as, Thomas Frank’s relationship with Bryan Mbeumo will be the deciding factors in the 25-year-old’s decision-making process. The ex-player believes Spurs are ahead in the race to land the Cameroon international as he can play regularly in the elite competitions. However, Robinson points out that the Brentford star’s wage demands might be a problem for the club, but if that can be sorted out then the Lilywhites will be ahead in the race to sign him.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Mbeumo as pre-season is on the horizon. There is no doubt that the 25-year-old will fit in easily at N17. The winger is familiar with Thomas Frank’s setup and he was one of the best players in the Premier League under the Danish tactician. His impact in the final third and his ability to cut in from the right-flank will provide a different dynamic to the attack.

The only negative would be that Brennan Johnson would miss out on a place in the starting eleven, despite enjoying a successful individual campaign. However, the Lilywhites will need a good depth heading into next season as they compete on four fronts. Fans will hope that they can seal the deal for Bryan Mbeumo quickly and put a halt to Manchester United’s transfer plans.
