Fitness expert endorses Tottenham move for impressive Lyon striker

Tottenham are leading the race for Lyon striker Georges Mikautadze
Tottenham Hotspur are already playing catch-up with their rivals in the transfer market, so chairman Daniel Levy must accelerate the plans to bring in quality players to North London and build on last season’s Europa League success.
New boss Thomas Frank is expected to be consulted with regards to players he wants to keep at the club and build his team around. As per recent reports, he has already given Richarlison the green signal to leave the club. The Brazilian international has failed to prove himself across three seasons in North London, and the Hotspur Way chiefs are ready to move him on.
If Richarlison leaves, Thomas Frank will be left with just Dominic Solanke as the only No.9 in the squad. Mathys Tel and Son Heung-min can also operate centrally but they are more effective from wide areas, which means Spurs will need to find a quality replacement for Richarlison.

It was reported last month that Tottenham were leading the race for Lyon centre-forward Georges Mikautadze. With Lyon relegated to Ligue 2 due to poor financial condition, the 24-year-old’s departure from the Groupama Stadium now seems a big possibility this summer. And Spurs are considering taking advantage of the French club’s dire situation.
A revelation in the Euro 2024 in Germany, Georges Mikautadze enjoyed a fantastic debut season in Lyon colours after arriving from FC Metz. He netted 17 goals and supplied 11 assists on top of that in 47 appearances, but with Lyon in turmoil and relegated to the second division of French football, the forward is destined to exit.
Now, Dr Rajpal Brar has given a fitness update on the Georgian international. The injury expert has greenlighted Tottenham’s move for Mikautadze as he feels the striker will clear his medical without any issues should Tottenham agree a fee with Lyon.
“He did not suffer any injuries last season and played 34 league games, so that bodes well with regards to his fitness,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.
“His game time across multiple competitions was also regular – another positive.
“Even in 2023/24, there’s nothing to ring any alarm bells.”

Mikautadze did not miss a single Ligue 1 game for Lyon last season, which is a testament to his robustness and high fitness levels. The 24-year-old majorly was used off the bench in the league, and he proved to be an effective weapon.

In just 13 starts from 34 games, the versatile forward bagged 11 goals and six assists. Potentially at Tottenham, Mikautadze could be used in a similar manner by Frank. We expect Solanke to be the Danish tactician’s first-choice striker, and having a player of Mikautadze’s pace, directness and mobility off the bench could be a nightmare for tiring defences.
With a clean injury record to boot, Spurs must not hesitate to go all out for the Georgian star.
