Tottenham are among several clubs interested in signing Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu
A massive squad overhaul is needed in the summer if Tottenham Hotspur want to close the gap on their rivals next season.
As of now, Spurs have not offloaded any of their underperforming players, including Yves Bissouma. The Malian international has been a hugely inconsistent performer since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022, and with him recently entering the final year of his contract, the Hotspur Way chiefs are planning to cash him in.
Juventus have shown an interest in signing Bissouma, whose departure would lead to the North London club looking out for a significant upgrade. And seemingly do have a player in their sights.

As per recent reports, Tottenham have expressed an interest in signing Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu. The Turkish international enjoyed a highly productive past season with Benfica, which has caught the attention of several European clubs, including Spurs. But the central midfielder would prefer joining Liverpool, having previously worked with their manager Arne Slot at Feyenoord.
Orkun Kokcu open to joining Tottenham?
In a fresh update, though, Orkun Kokcu appears ready to move to Tottenham. According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, the Benfica star is open to entering discussions with Spurs officials over a move to White Hart Lane after he has been added to the list of midfield targets by new boss Thomas Frank and members of the recruitment department.
Kokcu produced 12 goals and 11 assists in 55 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign, whilst putting in some eye-catching displays in the Champions League. The Netherlands-born Turk can operate in multiple positions across the midfield, adding calmness, composure and creativity to the Tottenham side if a summer move transpires.
The 24-year-old wants to engage in discussions over a potential move to Tottenham after deciding that he is open to embarking on a fresh challenge in the Premier League, the aforementioned report adds. This has led to the Spurs bosses identify the Benfica star as a fresh potential acquisition, although they are set to face stiff competition from Liverpool, Inter Milan, AC Milan and AS Roma for Kokcu’s signature.

Tottenham must up their ante to sign the Benfica man
Now that Kokcu is open to exploring a potential move to Tottenham, the club bosses must not waste further time and spring into action. In the Turkish international, Frank would get a smart, creative and hardworking central midfielder who could complement the likes of James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall very well. He’d also a bit of bite and tenacity to Frank’s team, but most importantly provide them with experience of playing in the Champions League.
Valued at around £35million by Benfica, the Lilywhites must begin their work to bring in Kokcu as he’d be an immediate upgrade on the erratic Bissouma.
