Tottenham face Saudi competition for £13m Juventus striker; player keen to stay in Europe

Tottenham are looking to act quick and sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in the summer

All eyes are on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy as he looks to bolster the quality of the squad for next season. The Englishman was quick to suggest last month that he wanted the club to compete for the Premier League and the Champions League under Thomas Frank. However, it is easier said than done and many wanted Levy to put the money where his mouth is in the summer transfer window.

A quick start to the transfer window saw Spurs confirming a deal to sign Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich. The Frenchman managed to show glimpses of his true potential during the back-end of last season, which prompted the club to take on the option of signing the forward permanently on a lower price.

But the attacking line still needs to be looked at in the summer. Dominic Solanke admitted himself that he found life tough at N17 during the initial months, so a backup striker is needed urgently to provide good cover to the England international heading into next season.

Tottenham must fend off competition for Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic

With Richarlison failing to live up to expectations and facing an uncertain future at Tottenham, Daniel Levy has been urged to sign a new striker in the coming weeks. A new striker would provide competition to Dominic Solanke for a spot in the starting eleven, while keeping the England international on his toes at all times.

It was reported earlier this week that Spurs were interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus. The Serbia international failed to make an impact last season, as the Serie A giants chopped and changed managers midway through the campaign. The aforementioned report also stated that the Turin-based club are willing to cut their losses on the 25-year-old, and have slammed an asking price of £13m for the prolific striker.

However, Tottenham are not the only ones aiming to sign Vlahovic in the coming weeks. As per CaughtOffside, Saudi clubs Al Hilal and Al Ahli are also interested in his services as they look to bolster their attacking options for next season. But Spurs have received a significant boost in their efforts to land the 25-year-old, despite the heavy competition. The report adds that the Serbian is not planning to leave Europe anytime soon and wants to play in elite competitions as of now.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Signing the 25-year-old might be a risky move for the Lilywhites. The Juventus striker is certainly low in confidence, and playing in the Premier League might turn out to be a mistake at this point in his career. Not only that, but the high wage demands might also prove to be another factor why Spurs would look to pursue other alternatives instead.
