Tottenham continue to monitor Davide Frattesi despite injury struggles
Tottenham Hotspur have made a few top-quality signings in the ongoing summer transfer window, but a central midfielder still remains among needs at N17, and this is where the Lilywhites links with Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi come into the picture. And with recent injury concerns to the former Sassuolo midfielder, the transfer could now end up working in the North Londoners favour.
Fratessi has been on the radar at N17 for some time, and with Thomas Frank eager to bring in options in the middle of the park, Daniel Levy is looking at the 25-year-old as a possible addition. But the thing is that Fratessi has just undergone a surgery for a hernia issue that could see him miss the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Frattesi injury raises questions but opens up opportunity

If we look at the last season, Tottenham supporters had their hands on their heads on multiple occasions in the last season owing to the midfield looking flat with the team needing those legs and energy complemented by some sense of attacking intent from the centre. And this is where Frattesi comes into the picture.
The 25-year-old has netted 15 goals and complemented those goals with four assists during his time at Inter, which shows that he does have that goal-contributing ability because of which the Lilywhites are met with Manchester United competition to land his signature.
But according to injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, his recovery from surgery will end up being a key factor. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Dr Brar insists that clubs may hesitate to sign him. He said:
“Spurs may take a closer look at his history of abdominal/hernia issues to assess the risk of recurrence and determine if there are any outlier or high-risk issues.
“He also has undergone surgery, so they will need to assess his situation even further.
“This may see clubs avoiding making a move for him as he could miss a few games at the start of next season if he does face complications post surgery.”
Levy should use this Frattesi news to the North Londoners advantage

While we can see a lot of clubs being scared off from a possible transfer, I think that Tottenham can end up using this to their advantage. So here the Lilywhites can go into the negotiations highlighting Frattesi’s uncertainty with regards to immediate availability and use it to push for a lower transfer fee. And in the process, try to secure a top-level midfielder, possibly at a discount.
The 25-year-old can end up being a long-term replacement for Yves Bissouma especially given how the former Brighton midfielder has been a frustrating figure in the middle of the park at Tottenham given his inconsistencies. And Frattesi is a box-to-box player who has that bite in the tackle and an eye for goal, which is exactly what the North Londoners lacked at times last season.
