Tottenham are planning to make a move for Barcelona playmaker Dani Olmo
Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been disappointed with the lack of signings made by Thomas Frank this summer.
Mohammed Kudus has joined from West Ham, while Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso have made their loan moves permanent. Joao Palhinha has arrived on loan from Bayern Munich. Young Japanese defender Kota Takai has been brought in from J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale, but he is currently out injured.
These signings do not appear enough for the Lilywhites to compete in multiple competitions in the upcoming season. However, Daniel Levy and Co. have accelerated their transfer business in the last couple of weeks of the transfer window. They remain in talks with Manchester City over a deal for Savinho. In addition to Savinho, the North Londoners want a creative midfielder to fill in the big hole created in the squad by James Maddison’s serious knee injury.

Tottenham ready to spend big on Dani Olmo
Spurs’ desire to replace the injured Maddison has taken them to the La Liga market, where they are looking at signing a player from Barcelona. According to a report from Fichajes, Tottenham are preparing a major move for Dani Olmo, with a €70 million offer ready to test Barcelona’s resolve.
Dani Olmo made the move to Camp Nou from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024. He represented Barcelona on 39 occasions during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 12 goals and registering seven assists. Persistent injury issues left head coach Hansi Flick frustrated when selecting his team, but when he was fit and available, the Spanish playmaker often made a difference.
Nonetheless, the report adds the Catalan club are willing to listen to offers for Olmo this summer as they look to address their pressing financial concerns. The €70 million sale of the 27-year-old could be enough to free up wages and help them register new signings such as Marcus Rashford. A talent proven at the top level, Olmo played a key role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph.

Barcelona would consider parting ways with the Spanish playmaker
Spurs are seemingly looking to go aggressively for Olmo in the final weeks of the transfer window. It would cost big to get the playmaker out of Barcelona, but Spurs are desperate for new players in that position after selling Son Heung-min and losing Maddison to injury.
Olmo was a class act on the pitch for Barcelona, combining brilliantly with the likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Pedri. The ex-RB Leipzig man fits Tottenham’s desire profile: creative, versatile, technical and with experience in Europe. If he can stay fit, which might be a bit of concern for Spurs officials after their last season’s horror story with injuries, the Spaniard would be more than capable of replacing Maddison in the No.10 role.
As for Barcelona, Flick has young talents such as Fermin Lopez and Gavi who have pushed Olmo down the pecking order. Therefore, they the Spanish champions are open to parting ways with him after just one season, especially from a financial point of view. That said, it will be interesting to see when the Lilywhites table an opening offer for the Barcelona playmaker.
