Tottenham Hotspur see another offer for Nico Paz turned down as Real Madrid eye 2026 transfer
Tottenham Hotspur had to face a significant setback in this late stage of the summer transfer window as they saw their North London rivals, Arsenal, surprisingly beat them to the signing of the Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze.
Their inability to land the Englishman puts Spurs in quite a difficult situation, as they now have very limited time to negotiate with alternatives for a position that they are very keen to strengthen before the transfer window closes.
However, now, it seems like the Lilywhites have faced another failure in this task. As per a report from Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have seen their offer, that went up to €70 million in total, being turned down.
It is not yet clear whether it was Paz or his club, Como, that turned down this offer, but the report goes on to highlight that the player wants to stay in Italy for now and has his eyes set on a return to Real Madrid in the future.
Real Madrid’s involvement complicates the operation
This operation was looking to be quite a difficult one for Spurs right from the beginning, and the Merengues’ involvement only further complicated it. The Spanish giants have several rights on the player, and would have gone on to match any offer that Tottenham had made for the young Argentine to get a preferential claim on him.

In fact, Los Blancos can land the player for only €10 million in 2026, but will have to compensate Como in accordance with Paz’s market value in the future. As far as Spurs are concerned, this is another setback for them in the market, but it needs to be mentioned that this was always a difficult operation to begin with. They had already seen their first offer for the player rejected a few days ago.
The Lilywhites still have a few days in the market to find another quality attacking midfielder and negotiate his arrival, but their task is becoming increasingly difficult with each passing day.
Players like Bilal El-Khannous and Xavi Simmons are still being linked with Tottenham, but it remains to be seen whether Thomas Frank will actually get another midfielder to replace James Maddison.
