Manchester City have decided to retain Savinho for this season amid Tottenham Hotspur’s advances for the winger in recent weeks
A lot of questions have been asked about Tottenham’s approach in the transfer market this summer. The Lilywhites have not managed to address some of the glaringly obvious issues on the pitch, leaving fans to question the direction the club heading towards. Many also believe that Daniel Levy is already setting up Thomas Frank to fail at N17 by not bringing in reinforcements on time.
As we approach the business-end of the transfer window, there is still time for Levy to save face and bring in new players that could elevate the quality of the squad. The North London club need to replace Heung-Min Son as early as possible, after the South Korean announced his departure from N17 earlier this month.

Thomas Frank relies on his wide players a lot during build-up play and creating goal-scoring opportunities. The Danish tactician wants his wingers to run at the defenders and cut inside, allowing them to be in a good position to score the goals themselves. He also wants his wide-players to work hard and win the ball back higher up the pitch. So, Levy must look to sign a player that would fit in under Thomas Frank instantly.
Tottenham fail to land Man City winger Savinho despite intense transfer links
Tottenham have suffered a massive setback in their approach to land Manchester City winger Savinho. The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to N17, with the player ready to make the switch after agreeing personal terms. However, the Cityzens have now informed Spurs that the 21-year-old is not for sale as he is considered a key part of Pep Guardiola’s side.
This has been taken kindly by Bryan King, as he looks relieved that the Lilywhites did not sign the talented winger. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,
“Is Savinho the best Spurs can get? I’d question that, I’m not sure he’s a Tottenham player. I think the fee is excessive, it’s a lot of money to spend. But the selling club are in a strong position, because they’ve been watching Tottenham struggling to sign players for big money.”

The ex-scout added,
“I don’t think he’ll turn Spurs into a team that wins things at the top level, and for that kind of money, you’re looking for a really influential player to come into your team.”
Bryan King was never sure that Savinho would thrive at Tottenham due to his excessive fee. The ex-scout believes Manchester City hiked up his price after watching the Lilywhites get desperate to sign a new left-winger for quite some time. However, King believes that the 21-year-old was never going to turn Spurs into a title-winning team, urging the North London club to spend that money on a better player instead.
Since Spurs are all set to miss out on Savinho, the Lilywhites should quickly move on to other targets instead and convince them to join the club. It was reported earlier that Tottenham are eyeing a deal to land AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche as an alternative to Savinho. It is fair to say that the youngster has a lot of potential, and he would eventually make the left-wing spot his own for years to come at N17.
