“More disciplined”- Tottenham Hotspur’s summer business dubbed a success following quality recruits

Date:

Tottenham concluded their business in the transfer market by signing seven new players for this season

Tottenham had a lot of work to do in the summer after enduring a disastrous Premier League campaign last season. The Lilywhites finished the season just a place above the relegation zone. And the North London club needed a massive rebuild as they looked to improve their league position under Thomas Frank this time around.

With several positions needed to be addressed and upgraded, Daniel Levy and Co. sought out to complete a few deals very quickly. The Lilywhites managed to convert Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso’s loan moves into permanent ones as soon as the transfer window opened. But Spurs were not done yet, as they looked to get more reinforcements up front.

Tottenham have managed to end the transfer window by addressing most of the issues on the pitch.

Spurs also confirmed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham in July. Signing the Ghana international in a high-profile switch paved the way for Joao Palhinha’s loan move from Bayern Munich. And that was followed by the statement signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on a long-term deal. Also, the North London club managed to end the transfer window with a bang as they also confirmed the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani from PSG on a season-long loan.

Tottenham have managed to endure a solid transfer window

It is fair to say that Tottenham have managed to address most of the issues on the pitch that held the club back last season. The Lilywhites have successfully added more depth and quality on both ends of the pitch. And they have also signed ready-made players that might push for a spot in the starting eleven, unlike last time when Daniel Levy brought in Dominic Solanke and a bunch of teenagers in the summer.

Now, reliable journalist Paul O’Keefe has pointed out the impressive business Spurs have done in the transfer window. As per O’Keefe (via X),

“I do think this window was more pointed and disciplined from Tottenham. Needed a RW got one, needed a 10 got one, needed a 9 as cover and got one, needed a DM and got one. Obvious disappointment with no LW but we spent years going the buy cheap buy twice route.”

Paul O’Keefe has admitted that Tottenham have been disciplined in this transfer window. The journalist then points out the positions that the Lilywhites needed to address in the summer. And admits that Daniel Levy did manage to address them all by signing quality players in each position. However, O’Keefe added that Spurs did miss out on a left-winger, but he is glad that the club did not ‘panic-buy’ their way into a new signing just for the sake of it.

Now, all eyes will be on Thomas Frank and his men as they look to build on the Europa League success. The Danish tactician has been backed sufficiently by the Lilywhites, so there is no reason for the ex-Brentford boss to not perform when it matters. He is also looking to compete hard on all four fronts, and will hope that his signings make an instant impact on the pitch.
