Cristian Romero reveals where he would like to play in the future
In addition to the several incoming and outgoing transfers that Tottenham Hotspur addressed in the last summer transfer window, another task that the North London side completed in the last month was the renewal of the contract of their defender Cristian Romero till 2029.
The Argentine center-back was linked with a move away from Spurs for quite some time now, with Atletico Madrid being reported to be a side particularly keen for his signature.
However, with this renewal, the Lilywhites were not only able to extinguish these links, but also ensured the continuity in their team of one of their fixed starters in the backline. With him and Mikey van de Ven, Thomas Frank has quite a formidable center-back pairing.
Thus, while Tottenham will not have to worry about Romero leaving their team any time soon, the defender himself is quite clear about the team that he would like to join in the future. As per a report from CaughtOffside, the Argentine revealed that he would like to return to his former club Belgrano in the future.

Talking on this subject, the veteran Spurs defender said:
“If I were to return tomorrow, it will be to play for Belgrano. There is no other club, I have a lot of respect for them.”
The defender played for top Italian sides before joining Tottenham
It was at Belgrano that Romero had rose through the ranks before taking the journey across the Atlantic to join the Serie A side Genoa. After that, he had stints at Juventus and Atalanta before he joined Tottenham in 2022, where he is still plying his trade.
Currently, he is at the peak of his career, and it will be highly unlikely for him to return to play for a club in Argentina any time soon. Over the years, he has proven himself to be a very useful player for the North London side, and hopefully, he will continue playing at the level he has shown in these recent years for a significant time to come.
Still, it is easier to understand why he wants to join Belgrano, as he has a lot of sentimental attachment with the Argentine club, and there is no doubt that this would be quite a remarkable way for him to end his playing career.
