Tottenham are expected to allow Ben Davies to walk out on a free transfer at the end of the season
Tottenham Hotspur backed their new boss Thomas Frank in the transfer market to rebuild his squad in the summer.
The capital club made some exciting signings during the transfer window to provide the Danish tactician the tools to compete on all fronts this season. Apart from bringing in new faces, they also did well to offload some players surplus to the head coach’s requirements—both on loan and permanently.
Spurs have several players who are out of contract at the end of the season- as things stand. Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma are three prominent names in the first-team squad. Bissouma is apparently out of Frank’s plans moving forward, but the club are planning to accelerate new contract talks with Bentancur. Meanwhile, Ben Davies’ future at the club potentially already decided.

Ex-scout feels Tottenham will release Ben Davies in the summer
Ben Davies is now the longest-serving and most experienced player in the Tottenham squad after Son Heung-min’s departure to MLS club Los Angeles FC in August. He has been donning the famous white shirt since 2014, racking up close to 360 appearances to date.
The 32-year-old has been a great servant for the club since arriving from Swansea City, but his service for over a decade is set to come to an end next summer. This is because the defender’s contract will expire on June 30, 2026 (Transfermarkt), and ex-Spurs scout Bryan King feels that the club will be happy to allow Davies walk on a free transfer at the end of the ongoing campaign.
“Without doubt (Davies will leave for free),” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“He’ll be moving into a player-coach role, or having a season abroad somewhere, I’d have thought.
“I would imagine that Spurs will say ‘thank you for your service, and good luck for whatever comes next’.”

Davies will look to leave Tottenham on a high
Davies won his first trophy after a decade at the club when Tottenham won the Europa League in May. The Wales international did play a role in Spurs’ Europa League triumph, and with Son now gone and James Maddison injured for the majority of the season, Frank will bank on his leadership and experience off the pitch more.
Leader, reliable and a calming presence, the Neath-born star will be ready to step in for the Lilywhites when called upon. With him past his prime and the club moving in a new era, Davies is expected to be released upon the expiry of his contract in the summer of 2026. Very much aware that this is set to be his last season in N17, the versatile defender will want to bow out on a high with another trophy.
