Randal Kolo Muani is looking to prove his worth at Tottenham by making an instant impact
Tottenham managed to end the summer in the most unusual way possible by bringing in a player on deadline day. The Lilywhites signed Randal Kolo Muani at the eleventh hour from PSG on a season-long loan, and it is fair to say that not many fans saw the deal coming as we headed towards the business end of the transfer window.
As we all know, the north London club was desperately looking to sign a new forward to provide a different dynamic in the final third. Thomas Frank wanted a player who could operate either as a striker or on the left wing. With few options in the market, Spurs turned their attention to Kolo Muani during the latter stages of the window.

But there was always a belief that the France international wanted to move to Juventus following his successful loan spell with the Serie A giants last season. The prolific forward caused havoc in Italy, and had his heart set on making the move to Juve permanent.
Tottenham signed Randal Kolo Muani at the eleventh-hour from PSG
It was reported earlier that Kolo Muani was on the cusp of joining Juventus from PSG, but the deal fell through after both clubs failed to reach an agreement for the 26-year-old, mainly due to the Serie A side repeatedly changing the structure of the deal. The mess created by Juve turned out to be costly, as PSG chiefs lost patience, allowing Spurs to land the prolific striker.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given an insight on how Tottenham managed to sign Kolo Muani on deadline day. Speaking on the Market Madness podcast (via GiveMeSport), Romano said,
“Randal Kolo Muani was another one that started to happen late in the night. Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain were in negotiations around midnight on September 1 and then everything collapsed in the following hours.”
The journalist added,
“Tottenham had the opportunity to then go for Kolo Muani. It is always fascinating to me when you have these kinds of crazy deals happening overnight. I love that one.”
Fabrizio Romano shares that Juventus were in negotiations with PSG for Randal Kolo Muani on deadline day. However, the deal fell through late in the night after Juve failed to reach an agreement for the striker’s signature. Romano adds that Juventus’ failed attempt gave Tottenham an opportunity to try their luck at the eleventh hour, and Daniel Levy ultimately succeeded in landing the 26-year-old.

Now, fans will have to wait and see if Levy’s heroics to land the Frenchman were worth the effort. Kolo Muani is expected to feature immediately for Spurs due to Dominic Solanke’s ankle injury. The 26-year-old will hope he can prove his worth at N17 under Thomas Frank, and help the club build on their Europa League success.
