Micky van de Ven has little reason to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid
Tottenham players are enjoying playing under Thomas Frank this season. The Lilywhites have managed to get off to a flying start under the Danish tactician, with the club winning four of their opening five games of the season. Not only that, but the North London club also managed to open their account in the Champions League, thanks to an edgy win against Villarreal earlier this week.
There are plenty of positives to take from Spurs’ brilliant start to the new season. But one aspect of the game that has really stood out for the Lilywhites is their air-tight defensive structure. Thomas Frank’s men are not giving an inch of space to their opponents, and that has helped them register four clean sheets in all competitions already.

It is not easy to pick and choose which player has stood out the most for Tottenham this season. But one player that has certainly made a mark under Frank is Micky van de Ven. The Dutchman has shown immense quality in recent games, helping the Lilywhites keep four clean sheets. Not only that, but the 24-year-old has also been involved on the other end of the football pitch, scoring against West Ham in the club’s last Premier League fixture.
Tottenham star Micky van de Ven urged to reconsider transfer stance amid exit links
It was reported earlier this week that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Mick van de Ven for a potential transfer. The La Liga giants are not the only ones hoping to test the waters for the Dutchman’s services, as Liverpool and Chelsea are also planning a move for next summer. However, the aforementioned report states that Tottenham have no intentions of losing their key player and have put an asking price of €80m for his services.
Now, John Wenham has also urged the 24-year-old to stay at N17 and become a vital part of the team under Thomas Frank. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“At the moment, there’s no basis for him to go. We’re playing in the Champions League. He’s won a major European trophy playing for us. He’s only made his Champions League debut on Tuesday of this week.”
The Lilywhite Rose owner added:
“You think that because he’s a little bit older, people think he hasn’t played in the Champions League before. We’re providing him every possible footballing opportunity and aspiration we want at the moment at Tottenham. So I don’t see any basis for him wanting to leave either.”
John Wenham believes Micky van de Ven has no reason to leave Tottenham anytime soon, as the Lilywhites are already playing Champions League football after winning a European trophy last season. Wenham believes that the North London club is giving the Dutchman every opportunity to succeed at N17, with Thomas Frank playing him regularly. The Lilywhite Rose owner has urged Van de Ven to reconsider his transfer stance and snub other clubs to make a name for himself at Spurs.
Tottenham cannot let Van de Ven leave the club for pastures new in the upcoming transfer windows. The Dutchman is seen as a key member of the squad under Thomas Frank, and losing him would cause a lot of problems for the Lilywhites going forward. To make him stay at N17 for the long-run, Spurs are also willing to double his wages and offer him a new contract in the coming months.
