Tottenham look like a solid unit under Thomas Frank this season
Watching Tottenham under Thomas Frank this season has been a breath of fresh air. The Lilywhites look a completely transformed side, playing with confidence and cohesion. There is noticeably less chaos on the pitch, and the players appear to have a clear understanding of the game plan.
Compared with last season, the North London club have already taken significant strides under Frank. For starters, Spurs sit third in the Premier League table, having won three of their opening five games. During that run, Frank’s men recorded impressive away victories over Manchester City and West Ham, and came from 2–0 down to earn a hard-fought draw against Brighton.

Frank made it clear at the start of the season that he wanted the Lilywhites to compete strongly on all four fronts, and the Danish tactician appears to be backing up his words by delivering positive results week after week. If Spurs continue to build on these performances as the campaign progresses, they will have an excellent chance of building on last season’s Europa League success.
Tottenham backed to finish the current Premier League campaign on a high
Few expected Tottenham to come out swinging this season after enduring their worst-ever Premier League finish last term. However, the Lilywhites appear to have learned from their mistakes and are winning plaudits for their positive approach under Frank.
Noticing Spurs’ strong start to the campaign, Paul Merson has backed the North Londoners to finish at the top end of the Premier League table. Writing in his column for Sportskeeda, Merson said.
“I would say a top five finish would be great for Tottenham this season. They are truly capable of achieving it too. Liverpool and Arsenal can take care of themselves, so there are three more spots left.”
The Arsenal legend added,
“I won’t put Manchester United in that race, Aston Villa won’t be able to catch up unless they really get going. Newcastle? Maybe, but they have to be more consistent. If Spurs play their cards right, they can finish in the top five.”
Merson sees Tottenham as strong contenders for a top-five spot following their impressive start. He believes the Lilywhites face little real threat from the clubs around them competing for a Champions League place, giving them a genuine chance of securing European football. However, he cautions that Spurs will still need to play their cards right if they are to finish the season strongly.
With European qualification crucial for Tottenham’s long-term ambitions, Frank has an ideal opportunity to achieve it in his first season in charge. The Danish tactician will urge his players to take each game as it comes and build on their performances consistently.
