Tottenham star takes cheeky swipe at Leeds fans after Elland Road win

Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro responds to Elland Road hostility with a playful social media post

Tottenham’s hard-fought 2-1 victory at Elland Road was full of drama on the pitch, but right-back Pedro Porro managed to keep some of the spotlight for himself after the game with a cheeky social media post aimed at the Leeds United supporters.

Porro was on the receiving end of plenty of noise from the home crowd during Sunday’s clash. Elland Road is one of the most hostile grounds in the Premier League, and Leeds fans certainly did their bit to unsettle Spurs throughout the 90 minutes.

But instead of shying away from it, the Spanish defender leaned into the hostility. After the final whistle, the 26-year-old Spain international went on Instagram to fire back in tongue-in-cheek fashion, turning the jeers into fuel for a playful dig at the Leeds faithful. The post has gone down a treat with Spurs fans, who lapped up the defender’s response and hailed him for showing personality to go with the three points.

Go on, Pedro!

Tottenham’s win at Elland Road was a big one in more ways than the scoreline. The three points keep Thomas Frank’s side right on the tails of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table, showing they can grind out results even when not at their fluent best. Goals from Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus made the difference.

What stood out most was the confidence flowing through the squad. Spurs have been questioned in recent weeks after a handful of frustrating draws, yet this was a performance full of grit, with players stepping up across the park. Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario stood out among others apart from the goalscorers.

Attention now turns to Aston Villa’s visit to North London on October 19. It will be another stern test, but if Tottenham’s defenders show the same bite and their forwards continue to deliver when chances come, Frank’s men will fancy their chances of staying firmly in the title conversation.
