Tottenham face competition from London rivals for £30m Ukrainian star in January

Date:

Tottenham Hotspur will battle Chelsea for PL proven star Yehor Yarmolyuk

There are a lot of positives to take from Tottenham’s brilliant start to the new season. The Lilywhites are sitting third on the Premier League table, just two points behind league leaders Arsenal. However, the most glaring positive for the North London club has been that the new signings have already settled in well at N17. They already look like good investments for the future as the North London club looks to build on last season’s Europa League success.

However, one major concern remains — the lack of depth in midfield. Tottenham’s shortage of options in the centre of the park is something Thomas Frank will need to address when the transfer window reopens in January. The Danish tactician has been forced to rotate several players in the No.8 role in search of the ideal partner for João Palhinha, but the absence of a natural ball-carrier has been a noticeable void in the middle of the pitch.

Tottenham are interested in signing Brentford star Yehor Yarmolyuk.

The club recently announced that Rodrigo Bentancur has signed a new long-term contract, underlining Frank’s belief in the Uruguayan’s ability to operate as a progressive midfielder. Yet, even with Bentancur’s renewed commitment, it’s clear that Spurs need additional options to share the creative and transitional workload in midfield.

Reports now suggest that Tottenham are closely monitoring Brentford star Yehor Yarmolyuk as a potential target. The Ukrainian international has continued to impress under Keith Andrews this season, playing a pivotal role in the Bees’ strong start to the campaign. Although Brentford are reportedly reluctant to part ways with the 21-year-old in January, they may be tempted to sell if an offer in the region of £30m arrives.

Tottenham’s scouting department has been particularly impressed with Yarmolyuk. According to reports, Spurs scouts were ‘raving’ about the midfielder after his standout performance against Manchester United, where he played a key role in Brentford’s commanding victory over the Red Devils. His combination of energy, ball progression, and technical ability has made him one of the most exciting young midfielders in the Premier League this season.

Due to his dominant displays for the West London side this season, Yarmolyuk has attracted more suitors for a potential January transfer. As per TEAMtalk, Spurs will now have to fend off competition from Chelsea for the Ukrainian’s services. The Blues are keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge as they look to add more cover in their midfield. Not only that, but Enzo Maresca is also keen on bringing the player to the club.

For now, Yarmolyuk remains focused on continuing his development with Brentford as the season progresses. But with his impressive rise and clear potential to become a world-class player in the future, Tottenham would be wise to act decisively. If Thomas Frank and his recruitment team truly believe he fits their long-term vision, then the Lilywhites must do everything possible to bring the 21-year-old to N17 this winter.
