Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luka Vuskovic tipped for Premier League loan in 2026
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the long-term future of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luka Vuskovic of late.
Having officially arrived in north London at the start of July, almost two years since he signed as a 16-year-old from Hajduk Split, Luka Vuskovic made an immediate impression with his performances in Spurs’ pre-season under new boss Thomas Frank. However, Thomas Frank and his coaches decided a loan move would be beneficial in his development, and the centre-back pushed to join newly-promoted Bundesliga club HSV Hamburger.
The teenager is already proving why he is so highly rated across Europe. Bar his poor Bundesliga debut in the 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich, Luka Vuskovic has impressed in the last four outings for HSV Hamburger. He has been a rock at the back, completing 90 minutes in each of the last four games. The Croat has been a part of the Hamburg backline that kept successive clean sheets against Union Berlin and Mainz.
The 18-year-old’s performances have been impressive in a Hamburg shirt, so much so that RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have started keeping close tabs. Spurs are also delighted with the defender’s progress in the Bundesliga, hoping to see him continue his rich vein of form after the international break.

Luka Vuskovic tipped for Premier League loan next year
With a recall option in place as part of the Hamburg loan deal, the possibility of Vuskovic’s early return remains on the cards. Tottenham are reportedly considering recalling him in January as well as adding a new centre-back to their defensive ranks.
Now, reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes that a Premier League loan for the teenage prodigy could be on the north London club’s agenda next season.
“Vuskovic scored Hamburg’s first goal back in the Bundesliga,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“So instantly, he’s going to be very well received, but the good thing is he’s playing 90 minutes. If he’s going to come back, having played around 40 games in the Bundesliga, then we’re going to be on to a good thing, because he’ll have just turned 19.
“Next year, he will be eligible for a Premier League loan. So, Spurs will look at him again in preseason and then either decide if he’s going to break into the first team, or the alternative, going to go out on a Premier League loan next year.
“If he carries on shining in the Bundesliga, it will open up a lot of doors for him.”
Vuskovic should continue at Hamburg
Vuskovic has adapted well to the demands of Bundesliga football, after of course, a rough debut for Hamburg against Bayern. He has become a key component in Merlin Polzin’s side and scored Hamburg’s first goal on their return to the Bundesliga after seven years.
Having quickly become a fan favourite at Volksparkstadion, Tottenham must allow the Croatian international to continue his development in Germany. Vuskovic is starting regularly and getting ample amount of minutes for Hamburg, something the Hotspur Way chiefs must not attempt to disrupt by using the recall option in his loan, unless there is an emergency.
A full season’s experience in the Bundesliga would do wonders in the exciting defender’s growth, as Tottenham view Vuskovic as a long-term project. Once he returns to our club in the summer, a decision on his future can then be taken.
