Tottenham Hotspur have a chance of extending their unbeaten run to eight games when they face Aston Villa
Now that the October international break is over, Tottenham will be eager to pick up where they left off and continue their winning momentum in the Premier League. Some may argue that the break came at the wrong time for the Lilywhites, who had just returned to winning ways with a victory over Leeds United after a string of draws. However, on the bright side, Thomas Frank had the opportunity to analyse his team’s performances, address weaknesses, and fine-tune his tactics during the pause in club football.
Spurs now face Aston Villa at home in what promises to be a tough Premier League encounter. So far, Unai Emery’s side have endured a mixed start to the season, drawing three and losing three of their opening ten games in all competitions. That said, Villa come into this fixture on a four-match winning streak and will be full of confidence as they travel to N17 looking to cause an upset on Sunday.

Games against Aston Villa are rarely straightforward, especially when they’re in form. Emery’s men have beaten Spurs in each of their last two meetings across all competitions, something that will no doubt be on the minds of the Tottenham faithful heading into the weekend. But with the positive start under Thomas Frank, this is the perfect opportunity for the North Londoners to turn the tide and assert their dominance once again.
Tottenham will have to work hard to clinch a result against Aston Villa
Tottenham will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions when they take on Villa. The Lilywhites currently sit fifth in the Premier League table. But a victory could propel them up to second, just two points behind leaders Arsenal.
Alan Shearer has now backed Spurs to clinch all three points against the Midlands club whilst giving his Premier League predictions. Writing for Betting Betfair, Shearer said,
“That’s a tough one. It depends if Ollie Watkins is fit because he pulled out of England duty didn’t he. I’ll go for a home win.”
Shearer believes the game is Tottenham’s to lose if Ollie Watkins fails to recover in time for Villa. The England striker has often been a thorn in Spurs’ side in recent years, and his absence would undoubtedly increase the Lilywhites’ chances of victory.
However, one major concern remains and that is Tottenham’s recent home record. The Lilywhites have managed to win only three of their last 20 Premier League games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It’s a statistic that speaks volumes and one that Frank will be desperate to change. Turning N17 into a fortress once again must be high on his list of priorities.
Will Spurs rise to the occasion and make a statement against Aston Villa? Or will their home struggles continue to haunt them? Only time will tell.
