Tottenham have slapped an eye-watering €100 million price tag on Micky van de Ven amid Real Madrid links
One of the many positives for Tottenham Hotspur this season has been the standout performance from Micky van de Ven, week in, week out.
The Netherlands international has been a class act at the heart of the Lilywhites’ defence, showing signs of reviving a strong partnership with skipper Cristian Romero. He has arguably been Spurs’ most consistent performer under Thomas Frank and, after being named in the Dane’s leadership group, he has worn the captain’s armband in the recent injury absence of Romero.
Micky van de Ven has proven to be a great fit in Thomas Frank’s tactical system, offering stability, technicality and leadership skills to the team. The 24-year-old has been the biggest beneficiary of Frank’s set-piece routines, with the defender netting a brace in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Everton on Sunday to take his tally to five goals for the season.

Tottenham slap €100 million price tag on Micky van de Ven amid Real Madrid interest
The Dutch talent’s rise in stature at White Hart Lane has unsurprisingly gone unnoticed. European giants such as Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have been showing an interest in Van de Ven.
Wary of interest from top European clubs, Tottenham have acted. According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Spurs have slapped an eye-watering €100 million price tag on Van de Ven. This shows the club’s faith in the 24-year-old and how much highly they value his skill. The Lilywhites are embracing potential approaches from European clubs but also aiming to persuade him to stay.
Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham is prioritising Van de Ven’s new contract to reward him for his excellent performances, sending a clear message that the defender is integral to their future. It will also represent a strategic move to price out the suitors, especially Real Madrid, who are ready to go big for the Netherlands international next year to bolster their backline.

Van de Ven not going anywhere
For Thomas Frank and Spurs, retaining Van de Ven is extremely crucial to their project. The Wormer-born star is one of the best defenders in the Premier League thanks to his mix of pace, agility, reading of the game, strength, aerial ability and leadership skills, and keeping hold of such a valuable asset would only demonstrate that Frank’s project in N17 is booming.
It would also send a statement across the Premier League, whilst signalling the big talents in the world that the club is the right place to grow and unlock their true potential. Securing Van de Ven’s future stands as a no-brainer for the club chiefs. He has already proven to be one of the smartest signings of recent years, and after trying up Romero to a new contract, Spurs managing to persuade the Dutchman to sign fresh terms would represent a massive success.
And by slapping a €100 million price tag, the north Londoners, spearheaded by Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange, are sending a signal to Real Madrid that only a historic investment would allow them to lure Van de Ven away from White Hart Lane.
