Tottenham ramp up pursuit of Brentford star; Paratici adds personal touch

Thomas Frank is keen to reunite with Kevin Schade at Tottenham Hotspur in January

Tottenham are enjoying a strong run of form under Thomas Frank this season, having lost only two of their opening 13 games in all competitions. The Lilywhites are showing real promise as they look to compete on all fronts under the Danish tactician’s guidance. New summer signing Mohammed Kudus has slotted in seamlessly on the right flank, while Xavi Simons is still finding his rhythm in the No. 10 role.

However, there remains one glaring issue in the squad that continues to cause problems for Thomas Frank as he aims to maintain the team’s positive start to the campaign. The North London club lack a prolific left-winger capable of making the same kind of impact Heung-Min Son once had at N17. Spurs failed to replace the South Korean in the summer, and that decision is now proving costly for Frank this season.

At present, Wilson Odobert has been given the nod to start on the left flank for the Lilywhites to offer a different dynamic in the final third. But the Frenchman is still learning his trade and is not yet at the level required to deliver consistent performances. His competition, Brennan Johnson, has also struggled to make the position his own.

Tottenham closing in on Brentford attacker Kevin Schade for January move

It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are looking to strengthen their attack in the upcoming transfer window. The Lilywhites need to bring in fresh faces who can add variety up front and help Thomas Frank build on last season’s Europa League triumph. The £100 million investment from the Lewis family could prove crucial as the North London club attempt to lure top-quality players in the coming months.

Recent reports suggest Spurs have identified Brentford attacker Kevin Schade as a potential long-term solution to their issues on the left wing. The German international has made impressive progress during his time at the GTech Stadium, becoming a key player for Keith Andrews’ side this season. The report also claims that Thomas Frank is a big admirer of Schade and is eager to reunite with him in January.

In line with Frank’s wishes, the Lilywhites have reportedly taken a significant step toward securing the 23-year-old’s signature in the winter window. According to James Davies (via X), Fabio Paratici has been in contact with Epic Sports Agency this week regarding Schade. Spurs are said to be willing to meet Brentford’s asking price and are keen to finalise the deal as soon as possible.

Having depth in the squad will allow Thomas Frank to keep his players fresh and ready as they look to compete on all fronts this season. And having worked with Schade during his time at Brentford, Frank knows how to get the best out of the 23-year-old on a consistent basis. The German’s ability to knit his way through defences by dribbling in tight spaces makes him a solid option to have on the left-flank. He also thrives in transitions, and prefers linking up with other players in the final third of the pitch to create constant chances whenever there is an opening.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Kevin Schade as Spurs up their ante for his signature. But it goes without saying that the Lilywhites are not messing around anymore and are willing to be proactive in the upcoming transfer window.
