Former Tottenham star Jermain Defoe backs Tottenham to the league title next season

Present U18s coach and club legend Jermain Defoe backed Tottenham Hotspur under Ange Postecoglou to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Ever since the Greek-Australian tactician has made his way onto Hotspur Way, the feel-good factor to Tottenham has come back. From the defensive footballing philosophy of Antonio Conte to this high press, the stark difference just brings a tear of joy to the average fan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Defoe is also among those jumping on the hype train and believes that this Tottenham team can go on to challenge for the Premier League title in the upcoming Premier League season. The Lilywhites led the Premier League charge until early November this time as well until injury issues derailed their campaign. Here is what Defoe had to say on Sky Sports News.

COYS!

Full of praise for the development under chairman Daniel Levy, he believes that Levy’s work behind the scenes, in terms of developing the infrastructure which will eventually attract the biggest of players, has gone unnoticed in the change of tides at N17.

Also to add to that, he spoke of the eye-catching football under Big Ange, talking of Tottenham as one of the best teams to watch at the minute, which is surely not away from reality. The likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester City Arsenal and even Aston Villa play a top-class brand of football and their league standings reflect just that. It goes down from sixth place onwards; wonder which team’s there.

The endorsement from a Tottenham legend like Defoe carries significant weight, serving as a testament to the progress made under Postecoglou’s leadership. As the Lilywhites continue to evolve and refine their style of play, the prospect of a title challenge looms ever closer on the horizon.

With momentum building and optimism in mind, the Lilywhites surely stand poised to make their mark on the Premier League stage under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou. However, we need to do better than we did against West Ham to have any chance of competing for the league title.
