Former scout urges Tottenham to terminate this player’s contract at White Hart Lane

Spurs need new marquee number nine after Richarlison disappointment

Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, and former Spurs scout Bryan King insists that the North Londoners need to acquire a new striker to replace the Brazilian ace this summer.

There is a need for marquee number nine at N17 as the club looks to part ways with Richy and replace the Harry Kane-shaped hole in the front line. King thinks that the former Everton striker’s time at Spurs has not been a success and has strongly advised the club to part ways with the 28-year-old this summer.

Levy faces Richy dilemma

Tottenham must find a replacement for Richarlison.
Tottenham must find a replacement for Richarlison.

The North Londoners acquired Richarlison in a highly anticipated transfer from Everton in a £60 million deal in July 2022. However, the South American has struggled to find his feet at White Hart Lane after scoring only 15 goals and recording 8 assists in 66 appearances wearing the Tottenham badge.

His drought in front of goal, complemented by consistent injury struggles, has called for greater scrutiny and concern from fans and analysts alike. While he already has established links for a Tottenham exit, King thinks the club should go one step further to assure Richy isn’t a presence at Hotspur Way post-season.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“When you’ve been bought for an enormous amount of money, that also means you’re on enormous wages. Therefore, the only way that Spurs will be able to get rid of Richarlison is by finding a club willing to take on his wages or releasing him.”

“The settlement fee to release him from his contract would be very large. However, the club does need to get rid of him. They bought him for over £50 million, and it hasn’t worked out. They need a new number nine.”

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

While King is suggesting a termination, it is extremely unlikely for the club to terminate his contract as of now. The club can bring in a new striker and demote Richy to a bits-and-parts role; however, considering the positive impact he had last season when fit, Levy would unlikely terminate his contract at White Hart Lane, which runs until 2027.
