Tottenham Hotspur registered back-to-back Premier League wins on Sunday by beating Manchester United
Ange Postecoglou finally masterminded Tottenham Hotspur to a Premier League home win by defeating a poor Manchester United side on Sunday.
Not since the start of November have the Lilywhites won a Premier League game on home soil, but a 13th-minute strike from James Maddison ended that dreadful run and moved Ange Postecoglou’s side up to 12th in the table. The result also saw them register back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season.
In reality, Spurs have been in underwhelming form, with injuries hampering the progress of the side as they have done for much of the season. Thankfully for Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham had several key players back from respective injury problems against Man United.

Guglielmo Vicario kept a clean sheet, James Maddison’s goal turned out to be the winner eventually, and the likes of Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert came on as second-half substitutes and stretched a tiring away side’s defence. It was a dogged and determined, and Spurs could have scored more on another day.
Postecoglou reflected on Tottenham’s performance after the win over United, stating the three points were crucial to get some stability to the league form.
“Important to win today and important game for us get our league form into some sort of opportunity to improve. I thought we played decent at times,” the Spurs gaffer said to BBC Match of the Day.
“We had to do all facets of the game today. Pleased for all the new players coming in, they all contributed, but most important thing was to get the win today.”

This win over a struggling United side was a big deal because it bumped Spurs up to 12th place in the Premier League. This win must have been a bit of a breather for Big Ange, who’s been dealing with some serious heat after witnessing back-to-back eliminations from cup competitions earlier this month.
Also, before Sunday, no side since Chelsea in the 2012/13 campaign had registered three wins against United within a single season, until now. Spurs made a bit of history on Sunday, beating the Red Devils for the third time this campaign with the first win being a 3-0 away success at Old Trafford before a 4-3 Carabao Cup quarter-final victory at home in December.

With 13 Premier League fixtures left, Spurs are 11 points behind fourth-placed Newcastle United, and while Big Ange will not get carried away despite getting key players back on Sunday and the impending return of centre-back duo Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, he will see an opportunity to build momentum.
