Tottenham step up interest in Bournemouth star who will give them an edge in attack

Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo is wanted by Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur are making some crucial squad decisions amid a summer full of change.
Spurs are looking to appoint a new boss after firing Ange Postecoglou last week. They are already in conversations to hire Brentford manager Thomas Frank, who wants to move across the capital this summer. The Dane is believed to have already agreed personal terms with the North Londoners, with chairman Daniel Levy now expected to trigger his £10m release clause.
The Lilywhites are likely to undergo a summer rebuild after Thomas Frank is brought in to replace Ange Postecoglou at the helm. Tottenham already have some targets in mind, such as Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze and Sporting CP enforcer Morten Hjulmand. Another player who has been heavily linked with a move to N17 in recent weeks and months is Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.

Antoine Semenyo enjoyed a fantastic 2024/25 season, scoring 13 goals and supplying seven assists in 42 appearances for Bournemouth and operating on either flank. He has emerged as one of the most exciting and productive wingers in the Premier League in the last couple of years, catching the eye with his speed, physicality, tenacity, flair and versatility.
This has led to several top Premier League outfits vying for the Ghanaian’s signature. However, according to a report from Sky Sports, Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Semenyo. They are ready to battle it out with Manchester United for the 25-year-old this summer.
With Dean Huijsen joining Real Madrid last month and Milos Kerkez closing in on a move to Liverpool, Bournemouth have already made a considerable profit this summer. As such, the Cherries are in no rush to sell any more valuable assets, and thus, they have set a high valuation of £70m of Semenyo’s head.

So, it will be a daunting task for Tottenham to sign Semenyo, who is contracted at the Vitality Stadium until 2029 (Transfermarkt). But as the Lilywhites are set to compete in the Champions League next term, Levy must show ambition and loosen his purse strings in this transfer window to bolster the squad. And a move for the Ghana star would be quite a statement.

Having built his reputation as one of the tricky attackers in the Premier League in the last two seasons, Semenyo would be a strong fit in Frank’s 4-3-3 system at N17. The African forward offers sharp movement, smart positioning between the lines, and a keen understanding of space, traits that are vital in the Danish tactician’s attacking principles. Plus, he is a workhorse off the ball and versatile, which adds more value to the 25-year-old’s name.
That said, Spurs upping their ante to sign Semenyo from Bournemouth makes sense.
