Tottenham make contact Ligue 1 side for 23G/A star; Leeds United also keen

Tottenham Hotspur have revived their interest in OGC Nice star Evann Guessand

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to bolster their squad and build on their Europa League success in May.

Following the appointment of Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s successor, Daniel Levy and Co. must step up and bring the necessary reinforcements to the club ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Addressing the problems in attack has to be among the priorities of the Hotspur Way chiefs.

Club-record signing Dominic Solanke struggled to impose himself fully during his debut season in North London, while Son Heung-min showed signs of ageing and dip in form. Richarlison once again found himself on the treatment table for the majority chunks of the campaign, adding more problems up front for Spurs.

Now, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham have contacted OGC Nice over the signing of forward Evann Guessand. Newly-promoted Leeds United are interested in the player as well.

Evann Guessand enjoyed a strong 2024/25 season in OGC Nice colours, netting 13 goals and registering 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions. The forward was the club’s top scorer, and after three seasons with the French club, he is open for a fresh challenge. This has seen Spurs revive their interest in the Ivory Coast international.

However, the aforementioned report adds Guessand’s likely destination appears to be Turkey. Fenerbahce are keen on signing the Nice star, with coach Jose Mourinho having spoken with the player as he looks to replace the departed striker Edin Dzeko. But the player does have an interest in moving to the Premier League.

The African ace has made a name for himself in Ligue 1 and Europe thanks to his productivity last season. He delivered 23 goal contributions, whilst featuring across the front line for Nice. Guessand’s pace, dynamism, creativity and goalscoring ability, coupled with his versatility, would make him a valuable asset for Tottenham.

The French-born Ivory Coast attacker’s direct approach is suited to Thomas Frank’s system as he prefers to operate with a versatile forward who can link play well, run the channels and take up promising areas in the final third. Due to his explosive pace and direct approach, the 23-year-old would also be a quality option to bring off the bench against tiring defences.

While the player’s likely destination appears to be Turkey, Spurs do have the resources to persuade Guessand to chose their project over Fenerbahce’s and fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.
