AS Monaco want €60m to sell Maghnes Akliouche this summer amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham are interested in signing AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche

Tottenham Hotspur are aiming high now as they look to build on the Europa League success next season under new boss Thomas Frank.

There is a clear need to address the creativity problems in the squad as the Lilywhites struggled to break down well-drilled defences many times this past season. The players struggled for consistency and the lack of squad depth meant that Spurs lost games by the smallest of margins.

The North Londoners are already playing catch-up in the transfer market, so fans will hope that Daniel Levy acts fast and lands a few quality players quickly before pre-season starts in July. With both Son Heung-min and Richarlison facing an uncertain future at N17, Timo Werner sent back to RB Leipzig and Brennan Johnson often going missing in games despite being the club’s top scorer last season, investing in a wide playmaker who knows how to unlock rigid defences would be the need of the hour.

Tottenham have been keeping tabs on AS Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche. The 23-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign in Ligue 1, bagging five goals and 10 assists in 32 outings. AS Monaco have often had to cash in on their best players in the past, and it now seems increasingly likely that France Under-23 international will be the latest to go down that route.

According to a report from French publication L’Equipe, (h/t GFFN), AS Monaco will allow Maghnes Akliouche to leave if a club presents an offer in the region of €60m. Apart from Tottenham, Nottingham Forest are also interested in the player. However, no offer from either of the Premier League clubs have tabled any offer yet.

A right-winger by trade, Akliouche can play in multiple attacking positions and deliver the goods consistently as demonstrated by his performances for Monaco. A left-footed attacker cutting in from the right would give a different dimension to that of Johnson hugging the touchline or making late runs in the box to score goals.

Thomas Frank needs more options in attack in his squad next season

For a team that will be competing in the Champions League next term, Thomas Frank will need quality options in the starting XI and from the bench, and Akliouche certainly would provide that. His dribbling and capacity to find pockets between the lines in crowded areas can open up spaces for attacking full-backs to exploit. With his flair and off the ball movement, the Frenchman can complement creative talents such as James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski very well.

That said, Spurs must show ambition in this transfer market and bring the talented Akliouche to N17. If they can negotiate that price down to at least €50m, it would be a masterstroke.
