Brazilian giants ready to sell Tottenham target for €25m plus this summer

Tottenham are among few Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Palmeiras star Richard Rios
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to strengthen their midfield unit in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Lilywhites will be looking to add steel and meat to the midfield, and with Thomas Frank now officially taking charge of the project at the Hotspur Way, the club has to bring in specific profiles that fit into the Dane’s tactical system. The new Spurs boss will require central midfielders who can read the game well and possesses great running power.
Before making any potential additions to the midfield department, Spurs need to make some space in the squad. Yves Bissouma appears to be the likeliest to leave, with the Hotspur Way chiefs eyeing to cash him in this summer. Once Bissouma departs, the club must target an energetic and agile replacement.

Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios has emerged as a target for Tottenham. The 25-year-old has been capturing eyeballs and turning heads with his dazzling performances for Palmeiras at the 2025 Club World Cup. Having drawn one and won one, the Brazilian side are gearing up for a crucial do-or-die clash against American side Inter Miami on Tuesday, and all eyes will be on the Colombian midfielder.
Plenty of clubs have been monitoring the performances of Richard Rios at the Club World Cup. Interestingly, his price has fluctuated from £20m to £85m in recent months. Now, there has been an update on his price—an amount Fluminense could ask for to let him leave this summer.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Palmeiras don’t want to sell but ‘everything has a price’ and that price for Rios is upwards of €25m. Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have also joined Tottenham in the race for the 25-year-old, who is contracted to the Brazilian club until December 31, 2028 (Transfermarkt).

Rios may yet to become a household name in Europe, he does have the mix of technical ability and physicality to cut the mustard in the Premier League and become a hit for Spurs. Due to his passing ability, movement, reading of the game, ball-winning, vision and ball-striking ability, he is the complete midfielder Tottenham could do very well to add in Frank’s system. At 25 and certainly with his best years ahead, the Colombian would be a straight upgrade on Bissouma.

There is every possibility Palmeiras end up asking more than €25m for their star midfielder, as evidenced by the price fluctuation since the start of the year. Yet, it should not be a lot that puts Spurs in a position to break the bank. And keeping that in mind, Daniel Levy must do everything possible to get the South American’s signature this summer.
