PL rivals rejected improved £55million Tottenham bid for wantaway star

West Ham have rejected Tottenham’s second bid worth £55million for Mohammed Kudus
Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make their presence felt in the summer transfer window.
Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso have made their loan moves permanent from Bayern Munich and RC Lens respectively to sign for Spurs, while Japanese prospect Kota Takai is on the verge of joining from Kawasaki Frontale. Thomas Frank is yet to make one of his own additions to the squad having replace Ange Postecoglou in June.
The Lilywhites were interested in signing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze but cooled their interest following Arsenal’s entry into the mix. And Thomas Frank and Tottenham have now set their sights on West Ham United attacker Mohammed Kudus. Both Mohammed Kudus and West Ham are said to be open to his exit, but the Lilywhites have yet to meet the Hammers’ valuation.

The Ghanaian international has an £85 million release clause in his contract that is said to be valid until July 10, but Spurs are optimistic about securing a deal for well below that hefty price. Tottenham had an opening bid of £50million plus add-ons knocked back by West Ham on Wednesday.
Now, according to a fresh update from TBR Football, Spurs have returned with an improved bid for the 25-year-old. The second offer worth £55million has been rejected too. The Irons decided to reject the latest offer and are standing firm over their asking price – which is around £65 million.
After a poor 2024/25 season, West Ham must make some important sales to help their manager Graham Potter in rebuilding the squad amid Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) problems. They remain open to selling Kudus, who blew hot and cold throughout his second year in east London and managed just nine goal contributions after a prolific debut season.

The aforementioned report adds talks between both London clubs are continuing, and despite interest from other clubs, Tottenham remain the frontrunners for the player’s signature. Kudus also wants to join the North Londoners as he views the move as a great opportunity to take his career to another level.

The Ghana star could be a difference-maker for Thomas Frank’s side in the final third thanks to his flair, ball-carrying ability, creativity and goalscoring. The ex-Ajax man is capable of slotting in the central areas as well as out wide, and he would undoubtedly lift the technical flooring of Tottenham. At 24, the African talent still has room for improvement and working under a smart tactician like Frank could hugely benefit him.
Now, it will be interesting to see if Levy agrees to pay £10 million more than what they were originally hoping to pay to get a deal for Kudus over the line.
