Tottenham face competition from Besiktas for free agent; Turkish club planning a lucrative offer

Kyle Walker-Peters has a decision to make in the coming weeks as Tottenham and Besiktas fight for his signature
The need to bring in defensive reinforcements is clear to see and fans are hoping that Tottenham address the issue immediately. The Lilywhites were leaking goals week in week out in the Premier League last season, and that was one of the major reasons why Ange Postecoglou lost his job at N17. The North London club also managed to keep only six clean sheets in the league last season.
The same problems cannot continue to flourish next season under Thomas Frank. Daniel Levy must look to bring in some depth in the defensive positions as Spurs aim to compete hard on all four fronts. The Lilywhites want to build on the Europa League success under the Danish tactician. And for that, the ex-Brentford boss would need good cover in every position.

It is also important to note that the North London club suffered an injury crisis at the back last season. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, and Destiny Udogie have all spent some time on the side-lines. To not repeat the same situation next season, Daniel Levy should look to provide enough cover at the back so that Thomas Frank can rotate the squad easily for midweek games.
Tottenham need to fend off competition to sign Kyle Walker-Peters
The full-back position at Tottenham needs to be addressed immediately after Pedro Porro endured a ‘stop-start’ campaign last season. The Spaniard was dropped from the starting eleven midway through the season as well, with many fans believing that the ex-Sporting star had suffered a burnout by playing every three days.
It was reported earlier that Spurs identified Kyle Walker-Peters as a defensive option for next season. The England international became a free-agent earlier this month, bringing an end to his five-year stay at Southampton. The aforementioned report also stated that the 28-year-old is keen on a summer move to N17 and fight for a place in the starting eleven under Thomas Frank.
However, Tottenham now face competition to sign the right-back in the summer. As per Football Insider, Besiktas are trying to seal the deal for Walker-Peters by offering the England international a lucrative offer. The report also states that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to land the ex-Southampton star and has promised to give him regular game-time next season.

All eyes will be on Daniel Levy now as he looks to sign the 28-year-old. The Lilywhites cannot miss out on Kyle Walker-Peters, as signing him would fill the quota required to register home-trained players for Champions League next season. His versatility to either play as a left-back, or as a right-back would also prove to be beneficial for Thomas Frank. Signing an experienced player that knows everything about the club on a free transfer is a move that is too hard to turn down as well.
