Tottenham ‘contact’ Chelsea for £80m rated star linked with a summer move; several top clubs also keen

Date:

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has the chance to join London rivals Tottenham in the coming weeks

We are approaching the final few weeks of the transfer window, and it remains to be seen what Tottenham do regarding ins and outs at the club. The Lilywhites are in dire need of a new forward that could provide cover for Dominic Solanke next season. With time running out in the market and Thomas Frank lacking serious options up top, Daniel Levy needs to make a statement signing quickly.

Other top clubs in the Premier League have all signed a new striker in the summer to bolster the quality of the squad. So, Spurs fans will hope that Daniel Levy takes inspiration from that and tries to add more depth to the attacking line in the coming weeks. The Lilywhites are aiming to compete hard on all four fronts next season under Thomas Frank. So, bringing in a new striker must remain a priority for Levy.

Tottenham are interested in signing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

The North London club spent a fortune on Dominic Solanke last summer. But it is fair to say that the England international endured a ‘stop-start’ first season with the club. He also admitted that he found life tough during the initial months at N17. So, signing a new striker will keep the 27-year-old on his toes at all times in the upcoming campaign.

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson

There is a clear need to bring in a new striker that would compete with Dominic Solanke for a spot in the starting eleven. For now, Tottenham have Richarlison as a backup ‘number nine.’ But the Brazilian is facing an uncertain future at N17, with many cubs approaching Spurs for his services earlier in the summer. A decision on the 28-year-old’s future is yet to be made by the Lilywhites.

Now, Spurs are looking to get the wheels moving in the market and are aiming to bring in a new forward for next season. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Lilywhites have contacted Chelsea and asked the Blues to keep them updated regarding Nicolas Jackson’s future at Stamford Bridge. The Senegal international is set to part ways with the club, and Tottenham will only look to strike a deal if Richarlison leaves N17 in the coming weeks.

Romano has also stated that Chelsea have set an unrealistic price tag of £80m for Jackson’s services. At this moment, Spurs are not looking to pay that much for the 24-year-old, and it remains to be seen what the starting bid will look like. The Lilywhites also face competition from other top clubs for his signature. Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, and other top Serie A clubs are all keen to sign the Senegal international in the summer.

It is fair to say that signing Nicolas Jackson will provide a different dynamic to the Spurs attack next season. The prolific striker is arguably the most misunderstood player in the Premier League. He gets into good positions frequently, but tends to miss a few chances before eventually scoring. However, it is important to note that Jackson tends to create most of the chances for himself by running in channels and stretching the defence.

Bringing in the 24-year-old will be a good piece of business for the Lilywhites. But, the most important factor is the price tag. If Daniel Levy somehow manages to lower Jackson’s valuation, then Spurs will land a hardworking player that would give his all for the club.
