Yves Bissouma misses the Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley game
Tottenham Hotspur started their 2025-26 season in flying fashion as they beat Burnley 3-0 in the opening game of their new Premier League campaign.
While this new season has officially started, one can expect some changes to still take place in Thomas Frank’s squad before the summer transfer window closes.
Spurs are being linked with several players, including Eberechi Eze and Savinho, as they look to further strengthen their side for the 2025-26 season in which they will also be competing for the UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, some players who are not in the plans of Thomas Frank for this season can also leave the club before the transfer window closes. One such player whose future at the North London club is highly uncertain is the midfielder Yves Bissouma.
The Malian international made headlines for the wrong reasons recently, as he was penalized by Thomas Frank for his disciplinary problems by keeping him out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

After the loss to PSG, the Tottenham boss had made it clear that the issue was solved, and Bissouma would return to the squad for the match against Burnley.
However, this was not the case, as the Malian was neither mentioned in the starting eleven or in the list of substitutes ahead of this game, raising concerns about Bissouma’s status in Frank’s team.
Thomas Frank reveals the reason
As per the Tottenham Hotspur official website, the head coach addressed this situation in his post-match presser, and explained that Bissouma had missed this match due to an injury.
Talking about this matter, Frank said:
“Unfortunately, (Yves) got injured in training yesterday. We need to look into how (bad) it is.”
For the match against Burnley, it was Archie Gray who played as a defensive midfielder, accompanying Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr in the middle of the park for Spurs. With the way the game went, it was clear that Tottenham did not miss Bissouma too much, but hopefully, he will recover from this physical issue soon and will be available to play for the coming matches.
