“Absolutely devastated”- Michael Dawson ‘gutted’ for Tottenham attacker who was set for a key role under Thomas Frank

Tottenham star James Maddison has been ruled out for most part of the season after suffering a serious injury

Tottenham star James Maddison cannot catch a break after enduring recurring injuries during his time at N17. The England international is one of the standout players on the pitch whenever he is fit… but he never seems to play a number of games at a stretch. And it is fair to say that the 28-year-old has not lived up to his expectations in North London following his switch from Leicester City in 2023.

Maddison was a key part of the team that managed to beat all odds and win the Europa League last season. The attacking midfielder performed brilliantly in the knockout stages of the competition, before being ruled out of the final after suffering an injury. However, his recovery was going to plan as he prepared for life under Thomas Frank.

And it is believed that the ex-Leicester man was all set to become a key player under Thomas Frank this season. The 28-year-old was also looking forward to playing in his first-ever Champions League campaign before tragedy stuck earlier this month. The Spurs No.10 ruptured his ACL in a pre-season friendly, ruling him out for almost the entirety of the season.

There is nothing worse than seeing a player of your team getting ruled out for the long-term before the campaign even starts. But that is what happened to James Maddison and he looks all set to come back stronger. The Coventry-born talent also put out a post stating that he is taking motivation from the people that “doubt, hate, or mock” him.

Now, Michael Dawson has come out and shared his two cents on Maddison’s unfortunate injury. Speaking to Hayters TV, Dawson said,

“I’m absolutely devastated for James Maddison. When he plays he’s a top player. He picked up a few injuries at the end of last season. He’s come back ready for the start and then picks up an ACL injury so no one will be as gutted as what he will feel after doing the pre-season.”

Michael Dawson is ‘absolutely devastated’ for James Maddison following the 28-year-old’s unfortunate injury. The ex-Spurs captain added that Maddison is a vital player for the club who has been unlucky with injuries for quite some time now. Dawson also adds that the Spurs No.10 will be distraught following another setback, but he will get back to shape in no time.

If there is anyone that has the mental strength to get back up from a setback, then it is James Maddison. The England international has time and again proven his critics wrong, and this time is going to be no different. The ACL injury might have ruled him out of contention for getting selected for England for next year’s World Cup. But it will surely motivate him to comeback stronger and begin from scratch again.
