“I don’t see it”- Football expert does not see Tottenham landing PL star in January; World Cup boost irrelevant

Date:

Manchester City are unlikely to sell Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window

The arrival of Mohammed Kudus early in the summer did not stop Tottenham to go for more attacking reinforcements during the business-end of the transfer window. The Lilywhites did manage to bring in Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani subsequently, despite spending most amount of time and resources on other players instead.

One such player that the North London club was targeting for quite a few weeks was Manchester City winger Savinho. The Brazil international was seen as the ideal replacement of Heung-Min Son, with Spurs offering him regular game time under Thomas Frank as well. The 21-year-old was also keen on a summer move as he looked to become the face of the project at N17.

Tottenham are not willing to give up in their chase for Manchester City winger Savinho.

However, the deal fell through after Manchester City decided not to let the talented winger leave the club. It was reported that Pep Guardiola viewed Savinho as an important part of the squad for this season. Not only that, but the Cityzens could not afford to lose him without finding a suitable replacement as well.

Tottenham not willing to give up on their pursuit of Savinho

Well, by the looks of it, Tottenham are ready to enter the January transfer window for Savinho’s signature yet again. The Lilywhites are willing to go all-in for the Brazil international, and remain confident that they will land the talented winger sooner or later if the player pushes for a move as well. Not only that, but the North London club is also willing to put up an offer worth €100m for the 21-year-old’s signature.

However, football expert Steven McInerney does not believe that Spurs will manage to land Savinho in January. Speaking to Sports Mole, McInerney said,

“If Savinho is not playing an awful lot, at that point the same argument (from the summer) comes in that he’ll want to get into [Brazil’s] World Cup squad and Tottenham might offer him more of a chance to do that because they might play him more. I still think at that point, in mid-season, City will probably just say no.”

Manchester City will not sanction Savinho’s exit if they fail to find a replacement in January.

The football expert added,

“There’s a January tax and they’ll be looking at making over £80m, otherwise come back in the summer and we can talk. I think the likelihood of him going in January is small, because I think City would have to still find a replacement and I just don’t see City being fine with that personally.”

Steven McInerney believes Manchester City will not accept a transfer proposal for Savinho in January, even if the winger is not playing a lot of football under Pep Guardiola. The football expert added that the Cityzens will look to sell the Brazilian only if they receive an offer north of the £80m valuation that is set for his services. McInerney indicates that City will not sell him as they would find it extremely tough to find a replacement midway through the season.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

Well, some fans believe that Manchester City might just accept an offer from Tottenham if they manage to land Rodrygo in the winter. The Real Madrid ace is likely to leave for pastures new after being sidelined by Xabi Alonso, and City remain the favourites to land him. All eyes will be on Savinho’s uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium though, as Spurs will try all the tricks to land the 21-year-old in the coming months.
