Tottenham loanee Alfie Dorrington has been left out of Aberdeen’s 22-man UEFA Conference League squad
Tottenham Hotspur conducted some smart deals in the past summer transfer window. Mohammed Kudus arrived as a marquee signing in July, before the club finished the window with the acquisitions of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani.
As far as the outgoings were concerned, there were several players that left the club on loan. Manor Solomon joined newly-promoted Bundesliga club HSV Hamburger, while Manor Solomon sealed a loan switch to Villarreal on the deadline day.
There were also numerous academy talents that joined various clubs across Europe to continue their development. And one of them was Alfie Dorrington.
Alfie Dorrington joined Aberdeen on a season-long loan in July, returning to the club where he spent the second half of last season. The centre-back, who signed a new contract in N17 at the turn of the year, made 16 appearances for the Dons and won the Scottish Cup. He also earned praises from the Aberdeen fans, which prompted him to return to the Scottish club and have some continuity in his fledgling career.

Dorrington left out of Aberdeen’s Conference League squad
Dorrington started the 2025/26 season well for Aberdeen, playing back-to-back full 90 minutes against Celtic and Greenock Morton in August. However, the youngster has been reduced to just 61 minutes across three games since.
The London-born talent played in both Europa League play-off rounds against Romanian side FSCB. The Dons lost 3-0 to FSCB in the second leg, which led to them dropping to the Conference League. However, as per a report from BBC, Dorrington has surprisingly been omitted from Aberdeen’s Conference League squad for league phase.

Setback for Dorrington and Spurs
Dorrington being excluded from the Scottish club’s 22-man Conference League squad is a big setback. This development follows after his minutes in recent games have dwindled.
The Tottenham loanee returned to Pittodrie in a bid to get regular game time and continuity in his development. It looked a well-planned move from all parties involved. However, the lanky defender not getting picked for the club’s European squad will not go down well at Tottenham’s offices too.
If his situation does at Aberdeen does not change until January, the Lilywhites must consider recalling the academy talent back. A new loan move could then be arranged for the second half of the season.
