Tottenham are going to add new faces in January as the club prepares to enter a new era under Thomas Frank
There was a lot to admire about Tottenham’s fightback against Brighton after the Lilywhites came back from 2-0 down to secure a draw away from home. Thomas Frank had plenty of positive to take from the game, as the North London club showed real character and resilience to clinch an unlikely result. But one glaring on the pitch was still visible.
Spurs struggled to make the most of their chances as they continued to press Brighton in the second half. To everyone’s surprise, Thomas Frank opted to start Wilson Odobert on the left-flank ahead of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani. The youngster’s end-product was something that was missing for large parts of the game.

Despite Odobert’s all-round performance being above average, Thomas Frank surely needed more from his wingers if Spurs wanted to get a result and close the gap on their rivals. Brennan Johnson also failed to make an impact after replacing Odobert in the second half, a tale that a lot of Spurs fans have familiarised themselves with in recent months.
Tottenham will push for a new left-winger in January
Many fans thought Tottenham would bring in a new left-winger once Heung-Min Son’s departure from the club was confirmed. The legendary attacker left a lasting legacy at N17, ending his ten-year stint at Hotspur Way on a high. It was under his captaincy that the North London club ended their long-standing trophy drought last season by winning the Europa League against all odds.
So, a lot of questions were being asked of Spurs when they decided to not sign Son’s replacement in the summer. Tottenham did try to land Manchester City winger Savinho on a long-term deal, with the Brazilian agreeing personal terms with the Lilywhites as well. However, a move failed to materialise as the talented winger was seen as a key part of Pep Guardiola’s setup.
But Tottenham fans will be relieved to know that the club is going to try and sign a new left-winger in January now. As per TEAMtalk, the Lilywhites are preparing to back Thomas Frank and go all-in for a new winger, indicating that they are not messing around anymore and want to build on their Europa League success.
Until now, Frank has been backed thoroughly in the market and he can have no complaints about the direction the club is heading towards. The Danish tactician should now focus on bringing the best out of his players and make Tottenham ‘serial winners’ during his time at N17.
