Mohammed Kudus has no issues with Tottenham Hotspur teammate Micky van de Ven
Tottenham Hotspur made a marquee move for Mohammed Kudus in the last summer transfer window. And there was this air of excitement among the Lilywhites’ supporters given the high credentials that the Ghanaian carried in the years watching his performances for West Ham.
Kudus gets candid about Van de Ven incident

But then a few whispers emerged, ones which surrounded a hum of awkwardness given this was the same Mohammed Kudus who, less than a year earlier, had been sent off for punching future teammate Micky van de Ven. This happened during a heated London derby between the Lilywhites and West Ham.
While Tottenham went on to comfortably take up all three points (FT 4-1) on that day, the on-pitch clash which took place between Kudus and Van de Ven became one of the trending photos from the game. There were high tempers flaring and words exchanged. At that point, few would have agreed that the pair would ever be lining up on the same side.
And now, speaking months later about the incident, Kudus has opened up about it for the first time since moving to Hotspur Way.
While having a candid conversation with Sports Illustrated, the Ghana international insisted that there is no lingering tension between the pair and both of the players are beyond that incident. He said via Youtube:
“I think it’s just, whatever happened on the pitch stays on the pitch, you know?
“I was just fuming in that game, and I just reacted straight away, and then it’s done and dusted after the game.
“So it’s nice playing with him now.”
TTLB Opinion
Given that Van de Ven is an integral part of the current roster, with the Dutchman lining up to take up one of the captaincy roles at N17, and the fact that Kudus has been one of the most integral parts of the attacking core at Hotspur Way. It is good that there is no sense of drama or ego in the dressing room.
And it also shows how both of them have turned what was an old wound into a symbol of growing maturity in what is still a young squad that Frank has at his disposal.
Coming on the other side of the international hiatus, both will be looking to continue with their impact on their respective side of the game for the Lilywhites. Kudus has a brilliant game as he scores his first goal in Tottenham colours in Saturday’s win against Leeds United at Elland Road. And now he just has to pick up from there in a fortnight’s time.
